Academy’s Genius Swordmaster - Chapter 19
19. Blood and Eggs (2)
#19
An embarrassed cry came from not far away. It was a densely grown bush taller than a person. After confirming the direction, Ronan kicked off the ground and started to run.
– Wedges!
Then another arrow flew. It was an arrow with a bizarrely fast speed that was different from what it had been before.
Instead of slashing away, Ronan twisted his head to avoid the arrow.
In that fleeting moment when an arrow passed like an eye, Ronan could see the unusual shape of the arrowhead.
‘This…’
The familiar arrowhead was not a regular triangle or lozenge. There were three triangular blades attached to the pointed shaft at the center.
‘It’s in my memory.’
It was the same shape as the arrowheads proudly displayed by the punishment soldiers caught for poaching in the past. Designed to break the bones of animals, not humans, the structure was brutal.
It was said that if you feed it with mana and shoot it, you can instantly kill quite a few small monsters. The words of the comrades who were talking proudly lingered in my ears.
– And this isn’t for just any country boy. Even in Caribolo, only hunting dogs and above can shoot.
Hound was a word used to refer to Caribolo’s elite crew. The poacher’s motives continued to line up the greatness of Caribolo and its systematic organizational culture.
Ronan’s expression hardened.
“Carribolo.”
It was one of the leading poaching organizations on the continent that tried to kidnap Marpez, the dream bird.
‘There’s no reason to keep him alive.’
Ronan, who had just hit the arrow, rolled his hand and brought it to his mouth.
“Stop shooting Caribolo! Allies!”
“what?”
“Don’t you guys even recognize members of the same organization? It is Ahayute, the hound of the Damas branch!”
The arrow shooting stopped for a moment. After confirming that the gap had narrowed enough, Ronan swung his sword.
Asher’s psychokinesis was cut off, and floating rocks and pieces of wood fell to the floor.
“I’ll be raising my hand, check it out!”
“The hound of the Damas branch…?”
Leading Ronan raised both hands. He moved slowly in the direction the arrow had come from.
Before long, four men appeared through the swaying bushes.
“Ahayute? I’ve never heard of it. Have you guys heard of it?”
“no. at all.”
“What are you kid?”
Three were holding bows and one was holding a dagger. Seeing the men’s behavior, Ronan frowned. Red blood was smeared all over his clothes and his dirty face.
There were long bloodstains on the ground, as if something had been dragged. Ronan found silver rings on the men’s fingers.
It was the same tamer ring that had been tied to Marfez’s leg. The man with the dagger growled.
“Are you a hound? Of the Damas branch?”
“okay. Why are you saying the same thing twice?”
“You have to sound like a horse. I don’t know if it’s a contact, but it’s ridiculous that a kid like you is a hound.”
“Just because you can’t do it doesn’t mean you can’t do everything, wild dog. I don’t know where the branch is, but it seems that only idiots were chosen.”
Ronan spat at the man’s feet. The man laughed and grabbed Ronan by the collar. He said, thrusting a dagger into Ronan’s throat.
“Do you want to die, a lump of blood?”
“Are you a hunting dog, not a wild dog?”
“All seven of us are hounds.”
Ronan nodded.
seven people There must be three more out of sight. In fact, I felt a sign from before.
“Good job. If you don’t believe me, you can ask your wolf. Well, it’s not unreasonable to not know since I’ve just been promoted.”
Ronan shook the man’s collar. The hounds who heard the word wolf murmured.
wild dog hound wolf.
The boy in front of him was too familiar with Caribolo’s class system to simply dismiss him as a liar.
Moreover, if he hadn’t misunderstood, wouldn’t he have hit the arrow that fed mana? As well as his unusual sword skills, he felt strangely reliable.
said the man with the dagger.
“…this kid is watching.”
“Are you coming? The captain doesn’t seem to be in a good mood today, can we just deal with it ourselves?”
“You never know. If that bastard is really a hunting dog, there will be a feud with the Damas branch.”
Soon after, the man disappeared into the bush. The hounds, who had changed their bows to swords, approached with a roar.
A man resembling a grasshopper pointed the tip of a knife at Ronan’s chest.
“Come to think of it, how did you do that earlier?”
“Is that it?”
“Don’t look around, kid. You know, there was a thing that floated stones and trees. Are you a wizard?”
He was talking about Asher’s telekinesis. Ronan laughed generously.
“Oh, that? There is nothing to hide.”
Ronan took out Marfez’s egg from his inner pocket. The eyes of the men widened when they saw her beautiful figure like a jewel.
“It’s all thanks to this. It came out when I cut the griffon’s stomach the other day. It’s probably like a magic tool.”
“I mean, I caught a griffon? no. This isn’t it. What the hell is that?”
“Look at yourself, senior.”
Ronan lightly tossed the egg at the grasshopper. The crowd of men greedily tinkered with the eggs.
“Hiyaa ….”
“See this for the first time.”
Marfez’s eggs were beautiful, but I felt a sense of mystery that I couldn’t describe. It didn’t seem strange to have any kind of magical ability. shouted one of them, lifting an egg.
“hey! Everyone, come out and look at this!”
Then a man and two women appeared from different directions. Behind trees, behind rocks, under bushes.
All carrying huge hunting bows appeared to be snipers.
“The throat is once big. What is it?”
“It sounds like this kid got a magic tool by killing a griffon. Won’t you kill me?”
They also looked at the eggs with great interest. Just then, two men walked out through the tall grass. One was a man with a dagger that had disappeared earlier.
“Is that child?”
“Your captain.”
The other was a bald man who looked to be 2M tall and was wearing fancy jewelry all over his body.
At a glance, Ronan could tell that he was a ‘wolf’ who served as the head of the branch. The wolf approaching with strides looked down at Ronan.
“This is the Wolf Beum of the Demire branch. Did you say you came from the Damas branch, Ahayute?”
“yes.”
“I heard that our branch is in charge of the leyline discovered this time, but what kind of trick is it?”
Beum lowered his voice as if threatening. Ronan didn’t answer.
He quickly looked around. No more signs were felt. With this, all eight people, including the wolf, gathered.
The corner of Ronan’s mouth went up. The most annoying process is over. For the first time, I felt a favorable feeling towards my comrade who had been caught for poaching.
“You did a good job of listening to me even though I was sleepy and disgusted. After all, there is no such thing as motivation.”
“ok? What are you talking about?”
“First of all, let me correct it…I am not Ahayute.”
squeak.
Ronan’s sword, which was fired like a bounce, drew an arc. A red line appeared on Beum’s neck. The moment Beum, who reacted a little late, put his hand on the hilt, his head fell off his body.
“ah?”
“It was named after the bastard I hate the most. I have to pretend to be a fucking poacher.”
The world Beum was looking at was turned upside down. The pupils of the man holding the dagger widened.
Because everyone was preoccupied with eggs, he was the only one who witnessed the captain’s absurd death.
“everyone…!”
squeak.
But there was no room for resistance. After kicking Beum’s body, Ronan swung his sword at the man.
The feeling of the blade slicing through flesh and slicing through bones was transmitted through my fingertips. The severed man’s left arm and four fingers on his right hand soared into the air.
“You hold off for now.”
“Quaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!”
The man’s mouth opened, and a bone-chilling scream came out. Only then did the hounds come to their senses and scrambled to battle.
“What?! You bastard…!”
“uh? The captain…”
The fastest hound hurriedly put an arrow on the string. But the gap had already closed. Black swordsmanship was fired at the hounds as if they were shooting at them.
“no…!”
squeak.
“Kyaa…!”
squeak.
“Oh, Zen…!”
squeak.
Ronan’s sword was swung precisely at the poachers’ necks. Because of this, only elasticity close to a physiological response came out sporadically, without groaning or screaming.
“Who do you think I am…!”
squeak.
Some of them reached the level of sword expert, but it didn’t mean much. Humans die anyway if their throats are cut off.
squeak.
The gushing blood soaked the grass. Slowly, in one beat, the fallen bodies fluttered like fish pulled ashore. The last remaining hound threw down its weapon and shouted.
“Save me…!”
squeak.
It didn’t take long to get the job done.
****
“Oooh! Whoa!”
“That’s what I told you to be prepared for.”
Asher met eyes with the corpse and retched again. Asher, who came late after hearing Ronan’s call, had to witness the unbelievable road to hell.
None of the corpses lying around had a head. Heads with glaring eyes were scattered among the bushes like chestnuts in late autumn.
“What are all those people…ugh!”
“Carribolo. The poachers I spoke of before.”
It was a horror on a different level from the Luna Goblin incident.
Although the scene itself was cleaner than when the intestines and limbs were scattered like fertilizer, the Luna Goblins were monsters, not humans.
Asher cried and said.
“This is murder…!”
“It’s okay because they’re all bounty. maybe.”
Ronan, who was smoking a cigarette, replied indifferently. In fact, most of the poachers belonging to Caribolo were wanted.
Even wild dogs, the lowest rank, had a bounty on their necks, not to mention the elite members of the hounds.
“Let’s put it in.”
“You mean this…?”
“Then would you like to pick it up with your hands or telekinesis?”
It was for this reason that only the hair was completely cut off. Ronan started stuffing heads into his backpack.
Ronan and Asher each put five and three heads in their backpacks. The feeling of the liquid slowly wetting his back was chilling.
Ronan looked at Asher, who was out of breath, and pulled on his hood.
“Follow me.”
“huh…?”
Ronan crossed the tall grass with Asher. The bloodstains that had been there before Ronan’s knife action guided them.
After walking for about ten minutes, the grass cut off and an empty lot came out. An incomparably worse bloody smell hit the boys. Ronan took out a pipe and asked.
“Do you feel less guilty now?”
“This this this… all…”
“Yes. This is what the children in the backpack did.”
Asher was speechless. Well over a hundred animals were dead, regardless of species. Deer, wild boar, leopard, unknown birds, and even small squirrels… The
river of blood flowed along the slope. In one corner of the vacant lot, the dismantling work was in full swing, and the separated lean meat and hides were neatly piled up.
Useless heads and entrails were thrown around on the ground at random. Asher couldn’t move as if he was rooted to the spot.
“You’re too…”
“Professor Baren must be sad.”
Ronan exhaled smoke and laughed bitterly. The bizarre beasts that seemed to be part of the phantom species also turned into cold corpses.
There were cases where fantasy species that were in demand were sold as pets, but unfortunately, the fantasy species here seemed to be valued more highly as meat or materials.
“I’m glad I got this, though…”
Ronan took a rolled parchment out of his pocket. It was a different parchment than the one he had received from Professor Baren. A map drawn in blood was marking certain places.
– Draw all over.
Ronan ordered the man to draw the locations of all the branches he knew.
The man, who could no longer hold the dagger, desperately drew a map. The index finger of his right hand, which Ronan deliberately left behind, was his brush and lifeline.
– Since I finished drawing, will you save me? right?
The man who had finished drawing the map threw away all pride and begged for his life.
-no.
Ronan decapitated him without a moment’s thought. In the first place, I said it was put on hold, but I didn’t say that it would be spared.
Ronan murmured as he rolled up the parchment again.
“Would you like it if I gave it to Baren?”
Seeing the dead fantasy species, I naturally thought of knowing. Ronan rummaged through his pockets. Except for the bag of cigarette powder, nothing came out of the catch.
“Where did you spill it again?”
Come to think of it, it seemed that he hadn’t picked it up since he handed it to the hounds earlier.
Ronan left Asher and moved to the place where the massacre took place. Arriving at the scene, he furrowed his eyebrows.
“Eh?”
All the bloodstains that splattered everywhere were erased. The blood that had pooled in the grass roots and hollows disappeared without a trace.
what? Did I get the wrong way?
It was the car Ronan had been looking around for. A strange sight caught his eye.
“…What is that?”
The blood that was still left was gushing out and moving somewhere.
