Golden Mage - Chapter 11
Volume 1, Episode 11
To achieve that goal, El felt that with Bryon’s help, it would be straightforward to resolve it.
El didn’t view Bryon in a negative light. Although he coveted Bryon’s secrets, the fact that he had tried to persuade El instead of forcibly taking them made El think more favorably of him.
While there was a touch of bitterness, El had no intention of giving away all the formulas. But it seemed reasonable to show Bryon a little bit of the casting speed method.
El decided to ask for some items in return for his assistance.
“I don’t need such a large sum of money. What I want is… hmm… 8th-class and 9th-class magic books, and mana stones.”
“Mana stones? Why do you need those?”
Bryon looked curious, and El gave a wry smile before responding.
He had mentioned what he needed but didn’t reveal the purpose.
“I am studying how to draw magic circles. I want to study it and learn how to enchant mana stones. Besides, my mother needs some mana stones for her magic.”
Bryon nodded in understanding. For a magician, needing a few mana stones was entirely reasonable.
“Ho! You’ve really thought this through. Alright, mana stones go for around one hundred gold each. I’ll give you some extra for your trouble, so how about a hundred mana stones and the magic books?”
“Thank you, Grandfather Tower.”
Bryon let out a friendly laugh.
“No need to thank me. If anything, I should be thankful to you. By the way, why is it so difficult to face someone who’s only seven years old? It feels like I’m dealing with an archmage or something.”
El chuckled, unable to explain the unexplainable part.
With the deal done, Bryon provided El with 8th-class and 9th-class magic books and thirty mana stones. Cilfir was surprised by the significant income, but since it was all from El’s transactions, she could accept it.
Before parting ways with Bryon, El asked him not to spread the news of their deal to the outside world.
Bryon agreed, and he even made sure Betlrock kept the secret about El being a prodigy magician. Bryon didn’t want to see El becoming famous for being a genius magician.
With everything settled, El used the money he had accumulated to purchase a place for magical experiments and various items to establish an impressive magician’s laboratory.
He continued to live with Cilfir but persuaded her to move to a quieter place near Banjak.
El’s purpose was to be near Cilfir to assist her in magical experiments.
“Mom, you don’t need to do magical experiments. Just increasing your power is enough for you,” El told Cilfir.
Cilfir didn’t conduct magical experiments herself. Instead, she assisted El in conducting experiments. Consequently, it seemed like El was conducting the experiments on his own.
Thanks to his application of modern knowledge and magic, El was able to develop the “Magic Stone,” which the continent would later call the “Miracle of the Magic Stone.”
The Magic Stone was exactly what it sounded like – a magical stone.
It was a groundbreaking discovery because it could replace mana stones, which had a significant problem. Not only did the prices of mana stones fluctuate, but they were also expensive. This burdened magicians as the prices continued to rise.
El developed the Magic Stone using two types of magic – mana storage magic, which imbued regular stones with mana, and mana activation magic, which activated the mana within, making them function like mana stones.
However, by the continent’s conventional wisdom, this achievement seemed too incredible to be true.
