Golden Mage - Chapter 24
Volume 1, Chapter 24
El couldn’t help but notice the demeanor of that enigmatic Silfir. With a casual glance, El sized up the person addressed as the Crown Prince.
Suddenly, his eyes narrowed.
Acquiring the Eye of the Sage upon reaching Class 7 had granted him the ability to read the disposition of others to some extent. So there was no way he couldn’t read the Crown Prince’s temperament.
“Insolent, cruel, and conceited.”
That was El’s conclusion. He had instantly grasped the disposition hidden beneath the gentle mask.
El took a step forward towards Silfir.
Completely concealing Silfir’s appearance, El slightly lowered his head in greeting to the Crown Prince.
“Do you know my mother? I am El.”
Raising his head, El met the Crown Prince’s gaze confidently.
Although this wasn’t the Imperial Palace, where he wouldn’t dare speak a word even if his throat was to be cut, this was still definitely outside. Moreover, the Crown Prince himself was hiding his identity, and El was unaware of his status.
Of course, El had heard Silfir say that he was addressing the Crown Prince, but he acted as though he hadn’t heard a thing.
The knights escorting the Crown Prince sent chilly glares at El’s relaxed demeanor, disguising himself as an ordinary person, but the aura was conveyed to El nonetheless.
These individuals escorting the Crown Prince belonged to the Blade Knights, a knight order composed entirely of Sword Masters, on par with Class 7 mages but even more formidable in one-on-one combat.
However, El remained unfazed. No, he was even smiling.
“Oh… is he Silfir’s child?”
The Crown Prince gazed at El, who resembled Silfir, with a peculiar smile.
Trained from birth to become an Emperor, he maintained his composure in any situation.
“You must be very well acquainted with your mother, very…”
He mumbled under his breath and caught sight of Silfir standing behind El, causing her to flinch and hide behind him.
“Still unable to accept me? Can’t forget that scoundrel, Rubius?”
Seeing her like that, the Crown Prince realized that he couldn’t do anything else at this moment.
And he rose from his seat and addressed El and Silfir.
“I’d like to chat more, but unfortunately, the situation doesn’t allow it. Next time we get a chance, let’s share a drink.”
“I’ll look forward to it.”
El accepted the Crown Prince’s lingering words calmly.
The Crown Prince walked towards the inn’s door. As he passed by Silfir, he whispered to her.
“You are mine.”
Upon hearing those words, Silfir stiffened again, and the Crown Prince left the inn. The knights followed suit, bowing before leaving.
“….”
El couldn’t have missed those words from the Crown Prince.
El made an effort to dispel his stern expression and put on a bright smile for Silfir.
“Mom, let’s head to the Mercenary Guild.”
And Silfir also tried to regain her original appearance and smiled.
“Yeah, let’s do that.”
The two of them left the inn in high spirits.
Within the inner chambers of the palace where the Crown Prince stayed, he toyed with his wine glass as darkness fell.
“Surely, she’s returning to her family.”
That meant Silfir had become a Class 6 Master.
“With her consistently beautiful appearance and prodigious magic prowess… she’s a woman who perfectly suits me. If only she hadn’t been touched by another man….”
The Crown Prince closed his eyes. Then, as if contemplating something, he soon smiled.
“Lord Einhart Viscount must have been so regretful when the engagement with Silfir was broken off. Now would be a good time to grant his wish and welcome Silfir. Even if she becomes a mistress, she’ll still be an impressive in-law to me.”
And he thought of the beautiful boy who resembled Silfir. El, who stood in his way as if he were impervious to anything, didn’t sit well with him.
He was meant to become an outstanding Sword Master, equivalent to Class 7 mages, but El was even more exceptional.
However, El remained undisturbed. No, he was even smiling.
“Hmm… Silfir’s child, I see.”
The Crown Prince looked at El, who resembled Silfir, and a wry smile formed on his lips.
“Anyway, if I want to welcome Silfir or dispose of her, it’s better to do it quickly. Hehe!”
Chapter 9: The Eminent Mage, Lord Einhart Viscount
El and his party headed straight to the Mercenary Guild and immediately took the mercenary test for Serena and Kaina.
After the test, both of them obtained B-grade mercenary badges.
Returning to the inn with Silfir, who was still stiff-faced, El left her in the room and went downstairs with Serena and Kaina.
“….”
Silfir’s expression inside the room was complex. Because of the meeting with Alcaide Crown Prince, her unease surged due to the trauma she had experienced as a child.
“Why… would Alcaide Crown Prince…”
Originally, she had planned to quietly enter Lord Einhart Viscount’s domain with El. And she herself intended to spend her life honing her magic skills in a peaceful place.
The fact that her engagement with Alcaide Crown Prince was broken off was because she provided him with an opportunity.
Before the breakup, Alcaide Crown Prince showed signs of obsession with her, and there was even a time when she almost got kidnapped.
Because of that, he was terrifying, and while thinking of her late husband, she ended up falling in love with him.
Whether Alcaide Crown Prince loved her or not didn’t matter to her. Everything was El, and for her, she was willing to sacrifice anything…
But unfortunately, Silfir was uneasy now due to her current situation, where she caught the attention of Alcaide Crown Prince.
Silfir knew Alcaide Crown Prince’s temperament all too well.
His cruel and conceited nature…
If he saw her, he wouldn’t merely attempt to make her his mistress. He would probably try to kill El, who was apparently getting in his way.
That’s why she was anxious.
If it were to be for El, she was willing to become Alcaide Crown Prince’s mistress, no matter how much she detested him.
But if Alcaide Crown Prince realized that El could be his son, he wouldn’t tolerate him, and neither would Lord Einhart Viscount for standing in the Crown Prince’s way.
So, she was conflicted. She could still return to Cassius Kingdom. However, she knew all too well that Einhart Viscount would be a great opportunity for El in Ahinheart Viscounty.
If El, with his talent, took Einhart Viscount’s place, he would receive great recognition even from the King of Cassius Kingdom.
As the Count of Einhart!
If El took that position, she knew that the king, who valued the Einhart Viscount highly, would have to show utmost respect to El.
That’s how powerful and prestigious Einhart Viscounty was.
Even though El was still too young to fully comprehend her insistence on becoming Einhart Viscount, she believed that this was the best solution after careful consideration.
Thus, absorbed in her thoughts, Silfir widened her eyes when she noticed something El held in.
