Golden Mage - Chapter 27
Volume 1, Chapter 27
Meanwhile, El, along with the two women, Serina and Kaina, was assigned a room within Count Einhart’s mansion.
The room they were assigned to was among the most luxurious in Einhart’s estate, which already housed hundreds of rooms.
Although each individual was given their own room, El insisted that Serina Kaina share one, while El herself took the room next door.
Having already stored their luggage in the appropriate space, El left her room after taking a bath and went to where Serina was staying.
All the women seemed to have taken a bath, as they were still slightly damp and carried a pleasant fragrance with them. Serina’s youthful face had a slight rosy hue, and her moist hair exuded a delightful scent.
The pleasant fragrance put El in a relaxed mood. Turning her gaze to Serina, who was standing at the door, El spoke.
“Are you here? Have a seat.”
“Yes.”
As El caught a whiff of the faint scent emanating from the woman, she took a seat in the chair provided in the room.
And now, El began to closely observe the three beautiful women. After their baths, their expressions were all bright and relaxed.
Oh, how wonderful it would be to live like this forever…
But having abilities makes that impossible, for such is the world.
Whether in this world or my previous life in South Korea, it remains the same. As El observed Serina, she then shifted her gaze to Kaina.
Having sensed El’s eyes on her, Serina looked back at El.
El spoke to Serina, “I have something to say.”
“Go ahead.”
As Serina gestured for her to speak, El began to talk.
“To be honest, I… No, shouldn’t we just live together without getting involved with Count Einhart’s schemes?”
El candidly expressed her thoughts.
While Serina had not noticed any strangeness in Count Einhart’s behavior, since she was overwhelmed by her emotions, El, who was scrutinizing the situation calmly, had already perceived something unusual.
She felt that Count Einhart’s actions were insincere and that there was something hidden beneath the surface.
From the start, El had no intention of entering Count Einhart’s domain. She came here only for her mother, Serina, who held a grudge against her family, and harbored a longing for her family.
To El, Count Einhart was nothing more than the place where her father had been killed, causing sadness for her mother. Nothing more, nothing less.
It wasn’t that El lacked money or knowledge in magic. Her ignorance lay in not fully grasping the extent of Count Einhart’s power.
She didn’t know about the extent of his authority as a Grand Master.
However, even from El’s perspective, there was no shortage of anything, so she didn’t feel the need to go to Count Einhart.
But when Serina said she would go to Count Einhart, El couldn’t say anything in response.
She understood that it was for her sake. She sensed that beneath that was a desire to meet her family at least once. That’s why she obediently followed along.
However, upon arriving here and witnessing how Count Einhart treated Serina, El found it strange. She could see occasional flickers of a dangerous glint in his eyes, as if he wanted something.
In that moment, a thought flashed through El’s mind like lightning.
The magic item of infinite value to a magician, the Magic Stone.
If Count Einhart had such high authority, he would undoubtedly possess a tremendous amount of information. In that case, he could not be unaware that he himself was the developer of the Magic Stone.
It was only a conjecture, but it was likely true. No, it must be true.
Now, she didn’t need to voice such thoughts. El didn’t want to hurt Serina.
“…”
El maintained her silence, and so did Serina. She just looked into El’s eyes with her beautiful gaze, which contained an understanding of El’s intentions.
El felt a mixture of guilt and appreciation for her response.
“Knock, knock.”
At that moment, someone knocked on the door, and a woman’s voice could be heard.
“Miss, have you finished bathing?”
“Yes, I’m done.”
In response to Serina’s answer, the woman asked the reason for her visit.
“His Lordship, the Count, is looking for you… May I know your intentions?”
Serina wore a smile of satisfaction; it seemed that Count Einhart wanted to discuss the Magic Stone, as she had expected.
She had already taken this into account.
Since Count Einhart was likely to be associated with her and the Magic Stone, Serina gave a positive answer.
“Yes, tell him I will see him.”
“Understood.”
As the sound of footsteps receded, El continued to gaze at Serina. Her eyes were shining blue.
El’s eyes softened as she gazed at Serina, who was now leaving the room.
There, a thought crossed El’s mind, making her eyes glow blue.
It was about what she wanted to say after all.
Count Einhart’s warm welcome might not be genuine; there might be an ulterior motive.
However, at the moment, this was just a thought with no evidence, and it could easily wound Serina, so El refrained from sharing it.
“…”
Maintaining her composure, El didn’t say anything. She simply gazed at Serina, and Serina, in turn, said nothing. She merely stared back with her bright blue eyes.
Her eyes were filled with the purest form of concern for each other.
Though El felt apologetic for not voicing her intentions and hoping for Serina’s understanding, she couldn’t put her feelings into words.
But fortunately, Serina seemed to grasp her intentions, and she played along.
“Okay, then. Take care, Mom. Make sure Serina and Kaina don’t get bored. If they feel bored after I’m gone, you’ll be in trouble, you know?”
El teased her while trying to lighten the mood.
“Aww, my lovely Elly…”
Seeing that her mother understood her intentions and responded in kind, El was grateful and found her mother’s gesture adorable.
El stood up and headed towards the door, seemingly following Serina’s trail as she left for Count Einhart.
Looking at El, whose eyes sparkled blue, she was now pondering what she could do to keep her mother from regretting her decision.
