Golden Mage - Chapter 28
Volume 1, Episode 28
At the study of Viscount Einhart’s mansion, Cilfir knocked on the door to pay a visit.
Knock, knock.
“Father.”
“Ah, Cilfir, come in.”
The immediate response came to Cilfir’s voice. Upon Einhart’s invitation, Cilfir opened the study’s door.
“Please, have a seat.”
Cilfir sat down cautiously on the chair Einhart recommended, and a maid in the study placed freshly brewed tea in front of her before bowing and leaving the room.
Soon, the scent of tea filled the study, and Einhart raised his cup, taking a sip before beginning to speak.
“I called you here because our family ties have been restored, and I felt there should be no more secrets between us.”
Cilfir felt that the moment she was waiting for had come. However, she also felt bitter, thinking about the lavish welcome they received due to the magic stones.
If her thoughts were true, then it meant that Einhart’s unchanged ambitions still persisted.
“Of course. I have been thinking the same way,” Cilfir replied.
Einhart’s expression brightened at Cilfir’s words. Things were falling into place unexpectedly easily.
Einhart spoke directly to the point, “Then I will not hide it. I know you are the developer of the Magic Stones.”
Magic Stones! They were magical items that could substitute for Mana Stones, and their value as consumable magical items was immense.
With Magic Stones, Einhart could make a quantum leap. He could amass wealth nearly double what he currently possessed and exert even stronger influence over the mages within the empire.
It would ultimately elevate Einhart’s status, and as a result, the noble faction led by Einhart, not the Emperor faction, might gain control over the empire in the future.
The value of Magic Stones was beyond Cilfir’s imagination, though not quite to the extent of Einhart’s ambitions. As a Devail top mage, Cilfir knew quite well the value of the Magic Stones. After all, a single Magic Stone had ranked Deltop top 100.
Furthermore, Cilfir, being a mage herself, understood the tremendous value of Magic Stones. So when Einhart openly mentioned it, it was like revealing his intentions.
If Magic Stones were involved, Einhart could dream of unparalleled success.
If Einhart’s powerful Vision Magic was combined with Magic Stones? The result would be a remarkable mage who could dominate the entire Bliaud Empire.
Just imagining it was thrilling.
However, it wasn’t only about Einhart’s aspirations. Cilfir also understood the value of Magic Stones to a certain extent. After all, she had developed them, which had led Del to the top 100 on the continent.
If Magic Stones were combined with other items of similar value, Einhart’s family could become a prestigious and renowned force throughout the continent.
But that was all just speculation, not a certainty.
Einhart, who was deep in thought, finally replied, “Well, it’s a matter that needs consideration.”
For the sake of the family, Einhart was ready to do anything, but he couldn’t deceive himself regarding the issue of succession.
Einhart, who hadn’t hesitated to sacrifice his own daughter, made a surprisingly audacious claim.
Cilfir confronted Einhart with a firm tone, “Of course. But there is one condition.”
“A condition?”
Einhart’s face twisted slightly. He realized that Cilfir wasn’t as easy to persuade as he thought.
“Yes, a condition. It won’t be a loss for you either, from your perspective.”
“Tell me.”
“Make Ellie… make her the Viscountess.”
Thud!
Einhart was taken aback by Cilfir’s request, feeling as if he had been struck by lightning. He maintained his composure, but inside, he was shaken by her words.
“I-is this for real?”
Einhart’s voice trembled as he questioned Cilfir.
However, Cilfir didn’t back down. She stood resolute and declared, “Of course. The reason I returned to the family that killed my husband was to see you and my brother, but it was also to make Ellie the successor to Viscount Einhart. If Ellie stands at the center of power, she won’t suffer the same fate as me. Ellie is a genius, capable of reaching your level. Unless you give me a definite answer, I won’t back down either.”
Was the woman weak, but the mother strong?
Facing Einhart, who was one of the top eight-class mages in the empire and could rival Zahar, Cilfir didn’t flinch. She confronted him head-on with unwavering determination.
Einhart, who saw such an attitude from Cilfir, felt something he had never experienced before.
“Did you really come to this decision? I understand. For now, return to your room. I’ll think about it carefully.”
In the face of Cilfir’s decisive response, Einhart, who usually had a calm demeanor, couldn’t give a definite answer.
It wasn’t that he wouldn’t do anything for the family, but he couldn’t lie about the issue of succession.
Einhart’s expression revealed some frustration as he spoke to Cilfir, “I’ll consider the matter after you tell me the secret of the Magic Stones.”
Cilfir immediately refused. She wouldn’t reveal the secret unless Einhart gave her a clear answer.
“I can’t do that. Tell me your decision here.”
“Really going to be like this?”
Einhart’s exasperated expression made Cilfir’s face darken momentarily.
She knew that the conversation about Magic Stones would likely hinder their interaction. Both parties had different desires.
Still, Cilfir didn’t bring it up. She had her own thoughts on the matter.
“Father, come over here. It’s more fun to play together,” Ellie called out to Einhart, who was deep in thought.
“Should I? I wonder how interesting this game is.”
In response to Ellie’s invitation, Einhart approached, and together with Serena and Cyna, they gathered around the table to play a game called ‘Egg-Tapping,’ a game that could be easily played with just a coin and a table.
At the appearance of Cilfir, Ellie, Serena, and Cyna stopped the game and greeted her with smiles.
“Oh, Mother, you’re here.”
“Welcome.”
“Ah, yes. I came after finishing my work. Did Ellie have fun playing?”
Cilfir’s face brightened as she nodded in response to Ellie’s question.
“Of course. It’s a game called Egg-Tapping, and it’s a challenging game that requires precise control and angles.”
“It sounds fun.”
Einhart’s eyes gleamed as he listened to Ellie’s explanation. Egg-Tapping was a common game on Earth, but in Egol, it was an intriguing game.
While the girls were fully engaged in explaining the game, Ellie noticed that Cilfir’s expression had darkened the moment she entered the room.
However, Ellie didn’t mention it. She had her own thoughts.
“Mother, come here. It’s much more fun when we play together.”
“Is that so? I’m curious about how fun it could be.”
At Ellie’s call, Einhart approached with great curiosity, and Ellie began explaining the rules of the game.
Soon, a fierce Egg-Tapping battle between the women of the sacred Viscount family began.
After a while, Ellie made an excuse to go to her room to fetch something and left Cilfir’s room.
The moment she stepped out of the room, Ellie’s expression turned incredibly stern.
Then, she shouted with all her might, “Summon! Magic Glasses!”
Boom!
