Golden Mage - Chapter 32
Volume 2, Chapter 2
The ego, formed by the consolidation of consciousness, contained the collective experiences of those who had fought numerous battles in the past. Thanks to this, Tana’s combat experience could be considered richer than anyone else’s.
Wielding the Golden Sword, Tana dashed towards the knights with swift movements. The Golden Sword was a weapon symbolizing the Golden Knights.
It was crafted using refined dwarf-made pure iron, encased with magic metal for enchantment, and finally coated with gold on the blade. It had the highest quality magic coating, which added Sharpness to enhance the blade’s sharpness and Shed magic to absorb the impact when colliding with other weapons, further enhancing the power of the Golden Knights.
Just as folding and refining iron could make its strength several times greater, El layered Sharpness magic one upon another on the Golden Sword. This had pushed the effects to the limit that magic metal could withstand, making the aura emanating from the Golden Sword comparable to that of a divine weapon.
“It’s often said that no matter how excellent a weapon is, there are limits to how much it can enhance your strength. What matters is how well you wield it.”
This principle also applied to Starcraft.
Even the units called the strongest would either die against upgraded units or be obliterated if not upgraded themselves, right?
So, El believed in making the most of the power at hand in each situation, following a practical approach instead of idealism.
And now, that approach was shining through.
As the Golden Knight approached the knights, they tensed up and created auras around their swords. Just like Ainhart’s knights should be, they were all Sword Experts, skilled in wielding swords.
However, Aura was not unique to the knights alone.
The Golden Sword wielded by the Golden Knight also emitted a faint blue aura, just like the knights.
But the powers were vastly different.
The Aura emitted by the Golden Sword, much larger than the swords carried by the knights, created a greater impact.
Golden Knight swung the Golden Sword horizontally.
A dazzling blue and golden light sparkled, radiating brilliance.
Thud!
A dull sound of impact.
The released Aura from the Golden Sword struck five knights directly.
“Ugh!”
The knights groaned in pain as they were blown away, crashing to the ground.
“Whoa, what is this!”
The knights were amazed, feeling the authority of the Golden Knight.
In the meantime, the Golden Knight was already on the move.
Despite its enormous size, the Golden Knight moved swiftly, far faster than the knights.
In the blink of an eye, the Golden Knight approached the knights again, swinging the Golden Sword.
“Are we fools?”
One of the knights shouted at the Golden Knight as they generated Aura around their swords.
The knights weren’t fools either.
They had seen how the Golden Knight easily repelled them earlier, so they prepared to respond again.
Knights with generated Aura confronted the Golden Sword.
However, it was an obvious mistake.
Even though they were sword masters, they couldn’t possibly pose a threat to the Golden Knight, especially when the Sword Experts couldn’t handle them properly.
Clang!
The Golden Sword collided with the knights’ swords. Simultaneously, all the knights’ swords were shattered.
Shwing!
Then, a storm of Aura swept through, swiftly annihilating the knights.
Thud!
Just like before, the knights fell to the ground in the same state as the first group.
When the Golden Knight turned around, the knights shivered in fear.
They had seen how the Golden Knight easily overwhelmed the Sword Experts like them. Facing such a monster was beyond their capabilities.
“We’ll take care of it!”
With the situation as it was, three deputy commanders of the White Wing Knights stepped forward.
In their eyes, the Golden Knight was a monster. It was a creature they couldn’t possibly defeat in a direct confrontation.
“No matter how formidable you are, you must have a weakness!”
As their deputy commander, Lekphil, declared, he feigned confronting the sword head-on but sidestepped at the last moment.
Just as he called out, the Golden Knight wasn’t smart. However, the ego comprising the Golden Knight’s consciousness was mostly composed of the consciousness of those with abundant combat experience.
“Ugh!”
Seeming to clash head-on with the sword while avoiding the blade, Lekphil was overwhelmed by the Golden Sword and knocked down.
“Kuugh! Unbelievable. How could I…!”
Gazing at the Golden Sword that had defeated all the other knights with just one blow, Lekphil groaned in pain.
“Grrr!”
With a short groan, as soon as Lekphil fainted, the Golden Knight moved again.
Even in its second stage, El believed that he could handle Sword Masters easily, and in the third stage, even Grand Masters.
To prove it, the Golden Sword’s Aura, which had already gathered spectacularly, started forming a gigantic Aura Blade.
Shoo! Shoo! Shoo!
Aura Blades soared into the air!
Seeing the Aura Blades emanating from the Golden Sword, the knights were astounded and regained their courage. Observing the Aura Blade, they found the courage to fight back.
Seeing the chaos, El smirked. Then, he yelled at the Golden Knight.
“Tana! Activate the second stage mode!”
A blue gleam erupted from the Golden Knight’s pupils.
At the same time, the faint gold glow emanating from the Golden Sword exploded, enveloping the surroundings.
“Release the seal.”
El assumed that the first stage power would be enough to easily deal with Sword Expert knights, the second stage with Sword Masters, and the third stage with even Grand Masters.
After proving himself, the Aura gathered around the Golden Sword burst out in full force, creating the colossal Aura Blade.
Shoo! Shoo! Shoo!
The Aura Blades surged upward!
Seeing the Golden Sword’s Aura Blades, the deputy commander of the White Wing Knights, Lekphil, who was just rubbing his head, exclaimed.
But then, he couldn’t believe his eyes when he saw the Aura Blades forming around their swords too. Witnessing the Aura Blade, they regained their courage.
“Ugh!”
With a short groan, Lekphil rushed towards the Golden Sword as if to confront it directly.
Being a high-level Sword Master, Lekphil’s name was fitting, and his Aura Blade had power distinctly different from that of a novice Sword Master.
The knights also believed that Lekphil would stop the Golden Knight, who was rampaging through Ainhart’s knights as if they were nothing.
They were knights who shouldn’t retreat, even if facing a Grand Master, as their duty was to protect their lord and obey his commands.
As they tried to reaffirm their resolve, the White Wing Knights, Ainhart’s direct knights, appeared like a relief force.
The White Wing Knights, consisting of 50 members, had a commander who was at least a high-level Sword Master, and the three deputy commanders were also highly skilled Sword Masters.
Other knights were all high-level Sword Experts.
With such a tremendous force, the White Wing Knights had more power than the combined force of five Imperial fingers.
“Apologies for being late, Lord Ainhart.”
The leader of the White Wing Knights, Viscount Rompel, bowed deeply to Lord Ainhart and then shouted to the White Wing Knights and other knights present.
“We are the knights of Lord Ainhart! Don’t back down!”
As if in response to his call, a blue Aura Blade soared from his sword.
The Aura Blade, known to be able to cut through anything in the world, was enough to boost the morale of all knights.
“Wow!”
The knights exclaimed in awe at the sight of the Aura Blade. At the same time, their swords started emanating blue Aura. Witnessing the Aura Blade, they regained their courage.
Blowing a sigh as he stood the Golden Knight, who had taken down all of Ainhart’s mages, El looked slightly relieved.
A vast force of hundreds of magicians within Ainhart was hunched down here. They were all magicians of at least the 4th class, clad in robes.
It was an immense force surpassing that of a royal palace, gathered in Ainhart. And that was not all the power Ainhart had; it was just the power concentrated here.
El had internal conflicts over whether his actions were too reckless when facing the much stronger force of Ainhart than he had expected.
