Golden Mage - Chapter 46
Volume 2, Episode 16
“This can’t be! The Black Knights were annihilated….”
The two Black Knights standing beside him wore dismayed expressions.
Over 30 Sword Expert Knights!
They were wiped out by a single magical attack. The battlefield fell silent once again.
Even King Redorf was astonished.
An unexpectedly young-looking sorcerer and a golden golem suddenly appeared.
The Black Knights, who had persistently tormented the Royal Guards and relentlessly pursued them, were effortlessly repelled by the golden golem’s sword.
Then, the leader of the Black Knights stepped forward. Three Sword Masters who had been attacking Duke Lias, the greatest knight of the Tollian Kingdom, now faced him.
And the surviving 30 Black Knights started closing in on the golem, forming a dense formation.
At that moment, the sorcerer, floating in the dark void, cast a spell.
A pillar of magical energy descended. Thunderbolts struck toward the pillar!
King Redorf was captivated by the magic. He had hoped to recruit a high-level sorcerer in the kingdom but had not succeeded. However, recently, he had managed to persuade a 6th-class mage.
King Redorf had witnessed the magic of a 6th-class mage before, but what he was seeing now far exceeded his expectations. The spell being cast was a 7th-class magic, a type of magic that only about 100 individuals in the entire continent could cast.
Of course, the fact that this magic required a 7th-class master to cast was not important to King Redorf.
Anyone could tell just by seeing it.
This magic being cast was of the 7th class!
And it presented another turning point in his life!
As the magician’s spell began to take effect, King Redorf’s gaze followed the descending figure of the magician.
When the magician’s appearance became visible, King Redorf was shocked. The sorcerer before him appeared to be no more than twenty years old.
“So young… Could it be some kind of illusion?”
In that moment, a certain rumor flashed through King Redorf’s mind.
“A young sorcerer from the Bleard Empire has appeared. This young sorcerer easily defeated the strongest 7th-class mage, Viscount Einhardt, and his son Gretton, who were known as the best among the 7th-class mages. Furthermore, the knight golem he carries is composed of Count Kleian, the empire’s finest knight, and Ho-gak.”
He had dismissed these rumors as too incredible and unbelievable.
How could it be possible?
Even if a 7th-class mage was powerful, it would be difficult for them to overwhelm two other 7th-class experts. If a 7th-class master had joined forces with two 7th-class experts, it might have been possible, but one of the opponents he faced was Viscount Einhardt, who had been a 7th-class master for over decades. Moreover, Einhardt’s vision could even contend against 7th-class masters. Despite that, the rumors claimed that this young sorcerer had defeated him. This was an impossible feat unless he was an 8th-class mage.
He had dismissed the rumors as baseless, yet now he saw the very same figure here.
He had no way of knowing if this young sorcerer truly possessed the rumored abilities. However, the golden golem and the previous display of power partially confirmed the validity of those rumors.
His overwhelming strength instilled faith in King Redorf.
His excitement was evident on King Redorf’s face, and he could feel it.
This was an opportunity that could determine not only his personal fate but also the future of his country.
“Huh?”
El, who was descending from the sky, looked at King Tollian and noticed his surprised expression. Confusion appeared on El’s face.
After a while, realizing that King Tollian had assessed his power with the spell, El smiled.
“Indeed. I might not look like a 7th-class mage.”
Refocusing his gaze from King Tollian, El glanced towards the place where the magic had taken effect.
It was a field of death. The intense thunderbolts had left the ground scorched black.
And there were over 30 bodies lying there, so charred that it was hard to distinguish armor from flesh. Well, five of them were still twitching, indicating that they were alive. However, looking at the extent of their injuries, they were clearly in critical condition.
El then turned his gaze to the Golden Knight. There, three Black Knights who appeared to be Sword Masters stood firm.
Watching the three Sword Masters, El shouted to the Golden Knight. It was time to test their combination.
“Tana! Attack them!”
A blue glimmer flashed in the eyes of the Golden Knight.
“Enemies. Must kill.”
Swoosh! Swoosh! Swoosh!
The magnificent Aura Blade on the Golden Sword struck the Black Knights one after another, pressuring them.
“Don’t face them head-on!”
The leader of the Black Knights, who had created the Aura Blade, shouted. Other Black Knights nodded in agreement and faced the Golden Knight.
As the Golden Knight swung his sword, El cast a spell towards one of the Black Knights who was attempting to dodge the attack.
“Hold person.”
Zap!
The Black Knight, affected by the spell, froze for a moment. El’s magic had an impact.
Though not as effective as he would have liked, the brief pause could still disrupt their movements.
And that momentary opening proved to be a significant opportunity for the Golden Knight.
With a swift motion, El leaped onto the Golden Knight’s shoulder.
Then, as if advising the last remaining Black Knight, he spoke.
“Why don’t you surrender? You must know that it’s impossible to win at this point.”
However, the Black Knight remained silent.
He hesitated for a moment and then made up his mind, addressing El.
“Even though the situation is unfavorable, I won’t give up. Take this!”
In a split second, the Black Knight lunged at El with a surprise attack. But El, unlike an ordinary mage, possessed reflexes and stamina comparable to a knight. Especially with the Magic Eye’s enhancement, he could vividly perceive the Black Knight’s movements.
“Foolish!”
El’s expression turned ruthless. He raised his left hand.
Suddenly, dozens, even hundreds of magic arrows were instantly cast.
Though it was a 2nd-class magic, due to El’s unique mana manipulation, it was more powerful than regular Magic Arrows. Moreover, with the rapid succession, it was akin to a 3rd-class magic barrage.
Even though the Black Knight was a 2nd-class El and a Sword Master, he was on a similar level. Therefore, Hold Person wouldn’t work as effectively. However, the momentary pause could still disrupt his movements.
And the opening was not lost on the Golden Knight. In no time, El ascended into the air, and the Golden Knight charged at the Black Knight.
Woong!
The shining Aura Blade on the Golden Sword was swung. The Black Knight tried to counter the attack with his sword, but even a superior Sword Master like him could not stop the powerful strike of the Golden Sword, which had easily knocked away the previous Aura Blade.
