Golden Mage - Chapter 58
Volume 2, Chapter 28
El, who understood Rowelin’s feelings, spoke directly to her.
“I don’t belong anywhere. I was just asked by His Majesty the King to establish Matap. And didn’t I bring you good news?”
“Then…”
Rowelin’s expression brightened. Hope began to emerge in her heart.
She could get help from a Class 7 magician!
If the magic that swept away thousands of orcs could be used against trolls, there was nothing to fear.
El continued speaking.
“You don’t need to worry about trolls.”
Rowelin’s face noticeably brightened.
“Are you offering to help?”
“No, there’s no need for that.”
“What do you mean…?”
Rowelin asked El with a somewhat perplexed face. She thought El would help with the trolls, but apparently, that wasn’t the case.
A broad smile appeared on El’s lips. He began to speak calmly.
“The trolls in Troll Valley are being handled. So, there won’t be any coming out of Troll Valley.”
“….?”
Rowelin still couldn’t grasp El’s words. After a moment, she understood, and her mouth widened in surprise.
“What?”
“Let me formally introduce myself. I am Elimis, the one who established Matap. I have cleared Troll Valley, and most of the trolls have been eliminated.”
“….”
It took a while for Rowelin to regain her composure.
Having regained her senses, she asked El a question.
“Is, is what you just said true?”
El, anticipating her reaction, smiled and replied.
“Of course. So, aren’t you worried about the trolls anymore? Currently, almost half of the trolls have been eliminated. Soon, all of them will be gone.”
“….”
Rowelin couldn’t say anything. No, she was trying to suppress her overwhelming emotions, tears welling up in her eyes.
She had almost given up. Surrounded by enemies on all sides and with no one to help her, she had thought she was alone.
But today, a magician suddenly appeared here and helped her. Not only did he help repel the orcs, but he also eliminated all the trolls in Troll Valley.
She was overjoyed. Her heart was overflowing with happiness. She felt alive again.
She had struggled for years leading her family, living with constant anxiety, setting up her territory near Troll Valley, always worrying about being attacked by monsters and losing the lives of many people.
The disappearance of Troll Valley brought her more joy than anything else.
And El, watching her like that, had a warm smile on his face. He empathized with her emotions and was touched by her happiness.
After a while, wiping her tears, she looked at him with red, swollen eyes and opened her mouth.
“I showed you my pathetic side.”
“No, not at all. By the way, there are a few more things I want to say, hehe!”
“Really?”
Rowelin adjusted her posture and asked. El began to speak again.
“I heard that there are lands in Rubius Barony that are adjacent to the sea. Is that true?”
Rowelin nodded.
“Yes, about a third of our territory is adjacent to the sea.”
“Then, do you have seaweed and oysters?”
“Yes, they overflow to the point of being too much…”
El’s expression brightened. It seemed that those things also appeared in the sea.
El said to Rowelin.
“I will buy all of them from Rubius Barony. All the seafood that comes from there.”
“What? Seafood?”
Rowelin asked El in surprise. Then, he nodded.
“Yes, I need a lot of seafood. I will buy them at the normal price of the continent. How about it?”
Rowelin’s expression suddenly brightened.
Rubius Barony had no reliable source of income. It didn’t have vast plains filled with crops, nor did it have mines.
There was only one possibility for that: seafood. However, in the less magically developed Tolean Kingdom, it couldn’t be a significant source of income.
In Rubius Barony, seafood was so abundant that it was nearly overflowing.
But now, El said he would buy all of them. Not at a cheap price, but at the normal continent price.
Rowelin groaned, calculating in her mind how much seafood came from her territory if they were all calculated at the normal continent price. Her voice, which was close to a sob, came out of her mouth.
“Oh, five thousand gold…”
Rubius Barony’s annual income was barely a thousand gold. But if she sold all the seafood, she could earn five thousand gold. Five thousand gold was an amount that exceeded Terrandel Marquis’s annual income.
Rowelin glanced at El. It was difficult to imagine that he would be concerned about spending five thousand gold or more.
El, noticing her concern, smiled and spoke politely.
“I’ll give you a thousand gold as a down payment. And soon, I’ll give you a huge magic box to store the seafood. You can put the seafood in there, and I’ll take care of transporting it to Troll Valley. Oh, of course, I’ll pay the transportation cost separately.”
“Okay…”
Rowelin accepted the 100 gold coin that El handed her, still not fully accustomed to the situation.
In a blink of an eye, she had earned a year’s worth of income for her territory. This would be a great help to Rowelin, who had been worrying about how to compensate the families of the soldiers who died in the orc attack and how to manage the territory.
“Ah, I should be going now that the business is done.”
El stood up from his seat, and Rowelin hesitated for a moment. It didn’t seem right to just send him off after he had done so much for her.
“No, are you leaving already? You should rest a bit more…”
But El politely declined.
“I have a lot to do now that I’ve set up Matap. Besides, there are still many trolls in Troll Valley that need to be eradicated.”
“Ah, I see.”
Rowelin’s face turned red as she looked away. In fact, she was hesitant to keep El here because he had done so much for her.
“Next time, please do stop by.”
El smiled and replied. With him leaving, Rowelin’s eyes followed him, seemingly never wanting to let him go.
