Golden Mage - Chapter 6
Volume 1, Episode 6
Spurred by the Orcs’ threatening gestures towards El instead of himself, Cilfir became upset.
But El was no ordinary child. He calmly returned Cilfir’s gaze.
“You shouldn’t be scared. It’s because of Mom’s worries.”
El knew that Cilfir was worried about him. He shifted his attention away from Cilfir and pointed at the Orcs.
His expression had transformed into that of a curious young child, filled with curiosity.
“Mom, are these the Orcs? They’re much cuter than people say. Walking on two legs, sharp teeth, and when you take away the weapons they’re just like pigs. Green pigs.”
“What, what did you say? Green pigs? Pfft!”
In response to El’s bombastic statement, Cilfir couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
The three Orcs were taken aback by their strange reactions. Soon, one of the Orcs regained his composure, snorting and swinging his glaive.
“Chwik! Daring to insult the mighty warrior Tullan, I’ll kill all of you!”
The other Orcs followed suit, swinging their glaives menacingly.
“Chwik! We’ll kill you!” They slowly closed the distance.
At that moment, Cilfir, who had been holding back his laughter, raised his hand.
“Pff! That’s enough! Hush!”
Suppressing his laughter, Cilfir focused and cast a spell.
In an instant, a red sphere with a diameter of 1 meter appeared.
It was a Level 3 offensive spell, Fireball.
“Fireball!”
Fwooosh!
The surrounding air suddenly heated up.
The impact of the Fireball was felt.
Seeing the magic, the Orcs turned pale and stepped back. Magic was the one thing that frightened them the most.
“Chwik! It’s magic, chwik! And it’s the scariest fire magic, chwik!”
As the Orcs retreated in fear, Cilfir chuckled again.
“Green pigs… Pfft!”
The Orcs realized that Cilfir was laughing at them. They brandished their glaives menacingly with fierce eyes.
“Chwik! Laughing at us, chwik! Die!”
In response to their actions, Cilfir let out a snort.
“Heh! So you want to become roasted pork, huh?”
The Orcs were terrified and retreated further.
“Chwik! Chwik!”
For a while, they stared at Cilfir in silence.
“Mom, I find the sight of those pigs quite disgusting.”
At El’s comment, Cilfir mimicked a motion as if he were about to launch another Fireball at the Orcs.
The Orcs panicked and fled.
“Phew!”
Cilfir canceled the Fireball and sighed with relief. Then, El approached him. When El looked at Cilfir, he extended his thumb.
“Mom, that was awesome!”
At his words, Cilfir couldn’t help but smile. She pretended not to hear it, pretending she wanted to hear the compliment again.
“Huh? What did you say? I couldn’t hear….”
El giggled and repeated it with a smile.
“Mom, you looked so cool casting magic. Like a great sorcerer, hehe!”
The praise from her son made Cilfir smile even more.
“Hehe! Eli compliments Mom, so Mom is so happy, right?”
Then, the two travelers unpacked their bags and had a late meal inside their lodging.
Cilfir asked El about his first reaction to seeing the Orcs, which made him burst into laughter again.
“By the way, Elly, weren’t you scared of the Orcs?”
His words made El tilt his head and shake it.
“Pigs walking on two legs and carrying weapons were hilarious to me. I don’t understand why Mom finds them scary. To me, they looked like green pigs….”
“Green pigs… Pff!”
El’s amusing expression made Cilfir try hard to suppress his laughter as he replied.
“That doesn’t mean all monsters are not scary just because Orcs aren’t. There are monsters scarier than Orcs, like the Trolls. They are twice the size of the oak tree in our village, and the Ogres, known as the kings of the forest, are even bigger than the Trolls.”
El’s eyes sparkled with excitement as he heard Cilfir’s explanation.
The two monsters he mentioned could be traded for money.
Troll hide was tough and warm, making it quite valuable as outerwear material. Also, taking Troll blood on the spot and sealing it could fetch a good sum of money.
Ogre hide was more expensive than Troll hide. The leather was tougher than Troll hide, even resistant to swords and arrows. The tendons, claws, and nails of Ogres were also worth a considerable amount of money. Ogre blood was used as an experimental material for sorcerers and sold at a high price.
“Of course, we won’t find such monsters around here… But be careful, Elly.”
El, who had high hopes of encountering these two monsters, was disappointed by Cilfir’s words.
“Yes… Mom.”
Despite his disappointment, El smiled and nodded.
Once again, the two travelers looked at each other, and Cilfir spoke.
“We need to keep walking without rest until we reach the next shelter, or it’ll be dark.”
El replied with a smile.
“Don’t worry, my body is strong enough!”
Seeing how well El had followed so far, Cilfir nodded.
“That’s right, our son. Can I trust you? Now, let’s go.”
“Yes.”
The two adventurers resumed their journey. Fortunately, they didn’t encounter any more monsters on the way.
On the third day after leaving Lunk Village, Cilfir and El finally arrived at the city of Vanjark.
El and Cilfir entered the city of Vanjark. Although living in the capital of the Kingdom of Cacius for four years before moving to Lunk Village didn’t give El much of a thrill, he still couldn’t help but let out an exclamation at the sight of the city.
“Mom, the city is so huge!”
“That’s right? This is the city Mom often visits.”
Vanjark was an enormous city.
Located in the easternmost part of the Kingdom of Cacius, it served as a military city, guarding the border and developing as a city of magic due to the prevalence of magic.
Once inside the city, Cilfir led El to an inn.
Although El attracted attention with his appearance in a wizard’s robe, he had received numerous glances even before. Being a seven-year-old child accompanied by his mother wasn’t much of a big deal.
Cilfir booked a double room in the inn and entered the room with El.
“This is where we’ll stay for a few days.”
El rushed to the bed like a child and exclaimed with excitement as he felt the softness of the bed.
“The room is big! The bed is so soft!”
Although it was not much different from a house, Cilfir thought that it was probably because they were outside that El reacted this way, so she laughed.
“Hehe! Your house is big too. You’re excited because we’re outside, right, Elly?”
“Oh, um… Oops!”
As El looked at Cilfir, he hurriedly looked away.
His face was flushed because he felt blood rushing to his head.
He couldn’t believe that he, an obedient child, would show such a reaction when he saw his mother.
Cilfir gave El a quizzical look.
“Seems like you’re finding it hard to undress. Should I help you?”
“Ah, no! I’ll do it myself.”
Cilfir chuckled and started to undress.
El also contemplated how he could avoid this situation, but before he knew it, he was slowly taking off his clothes. He did it just to pretend that he was going to undress himself, but in reality, he wasn’t.
“It’s not working, how can I get out of this situation? Mom seems quite insistent. What should I do?”
As El was pondering, he heard Cilfir’s voice.
“Ah, you’re still taking off your clothes? You’re too slow.”
At her words, El turned to Cilfir and answered.
“Yes, I’ll take them off… Oops!”
As he turned his gaze to Cilfir, he was struck dumb.
Cilfir had already removed all her clothes and was standing there only in her underwear.
“Heh, heh… How could I…?”
His ears were filled with embarrassment, and he struggled to suppress his blushing face.
It was, after all, his own mother who stood before him. It was unthinkable for him to show such a reaction.
But then, his mother was not just any other woman. She was Cilfir, a woman with breathtaking beauty.
Her flowing golden hair that shimmered under the light, her eyes reminiscent of blue diamonds, and her crimson lips were so enchanting.
Her pure white skin looked like a doll’s, and her every movement was full of grace and elegance. Anyone who saw her would praise her as the most beautiful woman.
Who would dare see her as a married woman with a seven-year-old son?
Cilfir looked at El with a chubby face.
“It seems like it won’t work. I’ll help you undress.”
“Oh, no! I’ll do it myself.”
Cilfir chuckled and began to undress El.
El was contemplating how he could avoid this situation, but he was slow in taking off his clothes as he pretended to undress himself.
‘What excuse can I come up with? Cilfir seems quite persistent. What should I do?’
As he was lost in thought, he heard Cilfir’s voice.
“Ah, Elly! How long are you going to take to undress? You’re too slow.”
In response to her words, El turned his gaze away and replied.
“Yes, I’ll undress… Oops!”
As he turned back to Cilfir, he couldn’t help but gasp.
Cilfir had already removed all her clothes and was standing there in just her underwear.
“H-h-how…?”
Embarrassment overwhelmed him, and he struggled to hide his blushing face.
After all, it was his own mother in front of him. He couldn’t believe he was reacting this way.
But then, Cilfir wasn’t just any woman. She was a woman of astonishing beauty.
Her flowing golden hair glimmered under the light, her eyes resembled blue diamonds, and her crimson lips were incredibly alluring.
Her pure white skin seemed like that of a doll, and her every movement exuded grace and elegance. Anyone who saw her would praise her as the most beautiful woman.
Who could see her as a married woman with a seven-year-old son?
Cilfir looked at El with a chubby face.
“It seems you can’t manage on your own. Let me help you undress.”
“Oh, no! I’ll do it myself.”
Cilfir chuckled and began to undress El.
