Golden Mage - Chapter 69
Volume 3, Episode 9
The central council meeting of the Tolian Kingdom came to an end.
The appearance of El, the only Class 7 wizard in the kingdom, was deeply etched in the hearts of all the nobles.
After the meeting, the nobles returned to their residences, consumed with anxiety until the welcoming party commenced. The presence of El, who could be both the greatest asset and the worst threat, stirred a calm storm within the kingdom.
Finally, the day of the party arrived, and all the nobles hurriedly made their way to the palace.
As the time for the party drew near,
King Redorf was having a private audience with a woman.
The woman appeared to be in her late teens and was incredibly beautiful. Her flawless, soft, white skin and sparkling emerald eyes exuded a serene aura. Alongside an air of nobility, there was an unapproachable sense of intelligence that made her even more captivating.
She was the only daughter of King Redorf, Princess Eris.
At the age of seventeen, Eris possessed a calm and cautious temperament beyond her years. Loving to study from a young age, she had read numerous books and had become a learned woman recognized by many scholars in the kingdom.
Due to her exceptional wisdom, King Redorf sought her counsel from time to time.
King Redorf spoke to Princess Eris.
“The decision is yours, Eris. He is an indispensable figure for our kingdom.”
Eris fell into deep thought.
What her father wanted was for her to marry El, the owner of the Golden Tower, a crucial asset to the Tolian Kingdom. It was a long-cherished dream that could potentially change the future of the kingdom.
Could such a intelligent woman like Eris not understand the significance of this?
After a moment, she nodded quietly and opened her red lips.
“I understand Father’s words. I also realize how important he is to the kingdom. However, let me meet him first. I want to talk to him and then make my decision.”
King Redorf smiled approvingly at Eris’s positive response.
“Well thought, and thank you as always.”
King Redorf was sincerely grateful for Princess Eris’s decision. Originally, she had no intention of marrying and preferred to focus on her studies. Her agreement alone meant that he had achieved all he wanted.
Now, all that remained was for El and Princess Eris to see eye to eye.
King Redorf stood up from his seat.
To attend the upcoming party, both Eris and he needed to prepare for quite some time.
“See you at the party then.”
“Sure, Father.”
Eris bid her father farewell with a graceful smile.
Left alone in the room, Eris’s emerald eyes sparkled as she drifted into deep thoughts. Her bright lips slightly parted.
“El, the possessor of the Golden Tower, symbolizing prosperity…”
The party to welcome the newly arrived Tower and its owner promised to be extraordinary from the beginning. Not only the lower nobles but also the influential nobles controlling the central politics were in attendance.
El also headed to the inn to attend the party.
He was not dressed for a party but instead wore a luxurious golden robe, which symbolized the future Golden Tower.
“Lord Viscount, are you not ready yet?”
Then, Rowelin’s voice echoed from inside the room.
“Just a bit more. I’m all set.”
“Haah, that’s the third time you’ve said that already.”
El let out a small sigh as he leaned against the corridor wall. It had already been an hour since he waited in the hallway.
He had not felt the need to dress up, but apparently, Rowelin felt differently.
“The biggest problem was not bringing escorts,” El muttered softly.
Noblewomen usually had retainers to help them, but since El came to Verdis with Rowelin abruptly, he did not bring any escorts.
Now, that seemingly minor mistake had led to an awkward situation. If he had hesitated a little more, he would have been late for the party.
El sighed again.
“Women take time to dress up…”
Then, the door opened.
Thump.
As the door opened, Rowelin walked out. But her appearance was different from what El had imagined.
He was slightly surprised by her unexpected attire.
“Why dress like that?”
Instead of the fancy dress that noblewomen usually wore for parties, Rowelin wore a clean and neat knight’s uniform.
El’s comment made Rowelin smile lightly.
“I’m not trying to seduce men by wearing a dress. Besides, I identify more as a knight. I don’t think it’s a big deal to attend the party dressed like this.”
“I see.”
El nodded, amused by Rowelin’s answer.
“I guess there’s no need for you to escort me then.”
Rowelin smiled and covered her mouth.
“Hehe, I’m still a woman, you know.”
“Haha, true.”
El laughed and playfully reached out his hand.
“Then, may I escort you, Lady Rubyas?”
“It’s an honor, Master El.”
The two of them shared a friendly atmosphere. It was a completely different dynamic from their first encounter.
Rowelin’s transformation was remarkable. At first, she was difficult to deal with, but now El felt a familiar sense of ease when interacting with her. He could rely on her without any hesitation, just like an old friend.
Though Rowelin didn’t understand why she felt this way, she didn’t delve too deep. Her life had been filled with the most energetic experiences.
Like receiving a seemingly extinct family and dealing with the pressure from the Terrandel Marquis.
However, the sudden appearance of the Tower Lord had revitalized their declining family’s power.
With power, anything was possible. Once the family’s power was restored, Rowelin no longer needed to fret over the Marquis’s pressure.
“Take my hand.”
When Rowelin took El’s hand, he chanted a teleportation spell.
“Teleport!”
Zap!
A white light filled the inn corridor, and El and Rowelin disappeared in an instant.
Where they teleported was none other than the kingdom’s teleportation gate.
As they appeared in a flash of white light, they were greeted by a person with an amicable appearance, Desilon.
“Welcome, Tower Lord!”
“Oh, Desilon, you’re here. Thank you.”
El greeted Desilon, the chief palace wizard, who also held the position of a Viscount.
Then Desilon turned to greet Rowelin.
“Nice to meet you. I’m Desilon, the Chief Palace Wizard.”
In response to his words, Rowelin smiled faintly and quickly bowed.
“Yes, I’m Lady Rubyas, Viscount of Rubyas.”
Although Desilon held the title of Chief Palace Wizard, he was treated nearly on par with a Viscount in reality. For him to come out and greet El meant how significant El was to the Tolian Kingdom.
Seeing how the nobles’ attention was on El, they had dressed their daughters beautifully in the hopes that their daughters could charm him and become potential in-laws.
It seemed the nobles’ gaze was now on the woman who had entered with El.
Dressed in knight attire, she was mistaken for a guard at first, but when the nobles recognized her as Viscount Rubyas, their attention shifted to her.
