Golden Mage - Chapter 7
Volume 1, Episode 7
El tried to run away, protesting that he couldn’t do this, but he was just a young child. There was no way he could escape Cilfir’s strong grip.
In Cilfir’s hands, El’s clothes were gradually stripped off one by one, leaving him gradually exposed.
Finally, Cilfir had fully undressed El, and she smiled with satisfaction.
“It would have been easier if you had done it earlier. Now, let’s go, Elly.”
El, who was being pulled by Cilfir, looked desperate and muttered a word.
“Seventeen years in my previous life and seven years in my current life… My purity that I’ve protected for twenty-six years….”
El was surprisingly pure at heart.
After losing (?) his innocence, El finished bathing in heaven and hell and dressed in clothes. It was to sell the Lyseto given by the villagers.
About 10 minutes away from the inn, they arrived at a rather small three-story building.
Cilfir pointed to the building and said, “This is where the Devell’s upper-class is located. I’ve received a lot of help from the upper-class lord here.”
El’s eyes sparkled at her words.
‘The upper-class… To become the richest wizard in the continent, I’ll need an upper-class who can sell my goods.’
In the meantime, El entered the building with Cilfir.
Inside the building, a woman of a similar age to Cilfir welcomed them.
“Welcome.”
“We came to sell the Lyseto.”
Cilfir replied with a cheerful smile, and the woman nodded in response and guided them.
“That’s right, but the upper-class lord has been waiting for you, Cilfir. Come on in.”
“Ahh… Thank you. Oh? Why are you looking like that?”
As they were about to enter the room, Cilfir noticed the puzzled expression on the woman’s face as she pointed at El.
“This child is…”
“My son.”
“What?”
The woman was taken aback. It was understandable since she couldn’t have expected that Cilfir, with her appearance, would have a son about El’s age.
Knowing Cilfir’s age as an important customer of the Devell’s upper-class, she was well aware that Cilfir was 20 years old this year. Although she knew she was married, she never expected her to have a son who was around seven years old.
That meant Cilfir gave birth to a child when she was seventeen years old.
The woman looked surprised and, at the same time, felt envious of Cilfir for maintaining such a beautiful appearance even after giving birth.
Then, she smiled gently at El, who resembled Cilfir, and reached out her hand.
“He’s your son?”
“Yes?”
The woman was puzzled. At the sight of El, her eyes revealed a glimmer of intrigue. His eyes were not something a child his age would have.
It was as if they were being drawn into someone’s emotions?
Clearly distinguishing between the conscious and subconscious, it seemed like he was scrutinizing himself and expressing his emotions.
After exchanging glances, the woman straightened her posture and met El’s gaze.
“Nice to meet you, I’m Devell.”
It was said that you could learn a person’s disposition when making eye contact with them.
From El’s eyes, Devell could read a certain purity without any distortion.
It meant that both as a merchant and as a human being, he seemed to be alright.
‘Ha!’
On the other hand, Devell was surprised as she noticed a faint glimmer in El’s pupils. El’s eyes were not the ordinary eyes that children his age would have.
It felt as if they were being affected emotionally.
Clearly distinguishing between the upper and lower parts, it felt like he was scrutinizing his own emotions. After their eye exchange, Devell straightened up and took a breath. Then she addressed Cilfir.
“You have an exceptional son, Cilfir.”
He had changed from an outstanding son to an exceptional son. That meant she recognized El. Cilfir smiled again at her words.
After exchanging greetings, the two sat down facing each other. When Cilfir handed over the Lyseto, Devell examined it carefully and said, “This Lyseto is in very good condition. I can offer you more gold than last month.”
“Is that so? I’m not sure…”
Devell laughed at her words.
“Since you’re not an expert, it’s understandable. Well then, I’ll give you an extra five gold for the Lyseto.”
Devell took out a purse and handed it to Cilfir, who accepted it with thanks.
“Thank you.”
“It’s nothing to thank me for. Thanks to you buying Lyseto from us, the Devell’s upper-class has been growing bigger. You don’t have to be too grateful, Cilfir. It’s more like we both benefit from each other.”
“Hehe! Thank you. Thanks to you, the villagers’ lives have improved too.”
“That’s great to hear.”
“Then I’ll come back next month. Take care until then, Devell.”
Cilfir stood up from her seat. At that moment, El also stood up from his seat.
Their eyes met as they stood face to face. A mysterious smile appeared on El’s lips, and Devell’s pupils trembled.
El respectfully nodded his head towards Devell.
Then, he walked out of the room with Cilfir.
“Phew!”
As they stepped outside, Devell leaned back in her chair and let out a sigh.
She recalled El’s gaze just now and murmured to herself.
“Such a gaze… He will become someone important in the future.”
As a human and as an upper-class lord, her refined sense was telling her that.
El would become someone significant in the future.
Outside, when they began to walk, El grabbed Cilfir’s collar and asked, “Where are we going this time?”
Cilfir had received a generous sum of money for the Lyseto this time, so she was in a good mood and smiled as she answered, “We’re going to the Martyrdom in Banjak. They sell magic books and various magic materials there. They also have all the magic books we have at home.”
“Wow!”
Curiosity filled El, and he put on an expression and behavior saying, “I have something I’m curious about.”
Not wanting to just stand there, Cilfir naturally asked him, “What’s on your mind?”
“Well, I read in books that magic books are very expensive…”
“Ah! Is that what you’re talking about?”
Cilfir clapped her hands and looked at El. Then, she gently stroked his head and said, “My little Elly, you’re quite sharp. In the past, magic books used to be very expensive, but now there are so many copies of each magic book that their value has dropped significantly. So, it’s not that people can’t use magic because they don’t have a magic book; it’s more because they lack sufficient mana and understanding of the formulas to cast magic.”
El felt other questions arising within him from Cilfir’s explanation.
“Then, what classes of magic books are sold?”
“In Banjak, they sell magic books up to the 9th class. Currently, there are comprehensive books up to the 10th class, but as far as I know, there is only one 9th-class master on the continent. It’s said that no one has gone beyond 10th class in history.”
“I see, so 9th-class masters are the best.”
‘Ninth class….’
El recalled the contents of the magic books at home. The magic books in the house located in Runk Village contained content up to the 7th class. Theoretically, El was able to easily understand formulas up to the 5th class level. However, from the 6th class, various formulas were combined, making it several times more difficult than the 5th class.
But that’s not all; if El really studied seriously, even the 6th class formulas wouldn’t be too difficult to learn. After all, he was the one who scored the highest in math in his previous life and received a perfect score in the math section of the college entrance exam.
The problem was the mana accumulated within him.
To manifest magic corresponding to the high class, he needed to accept mana into his body. However, the amount of mana that a growing body could absorb was limited.
El said to Cilfir, “Mom, then let’s buy 8th-class and 9th-class magic books.”
