Golden Mage - Chapter 75
Volume 3, Episode 15
Chapter 5: Dark Fog
Volek calmly spoke up, “We have been entrusted by the merciful and magnificent Goddess Gaia. She asked us to bring the Holy Maiden who will bring peace to the continent. And that’s why we’re here, to interpret the contents of that trust and bring her here.”
As he said that, Volek carefully scanned El.
He was secretly amazed. Volek was one of the twelve high officials who ruled the Gaia Kingdom, which meant he was skilled enough to discern if someone was using magic or not.
What he saw in El matched that of a young man in his early twenties.
But such a person was the Martial Emperor?
Wasn’t the term Martial Emperor used to refer to a mage of at least 7th class?
The sight of the young man in front of him undeniably claimed himself as the Martial Emperor. That meant he had undoubtedly broken through to the 7th class, becoming a Grand Mage.
The rumor of a young mage who surpassed the Blieard Empire’s Count Ainheart, a young mage known as the Boy Archmage, briefly came to his mind. That’s what popped up in Volek’s mind.
However, he shook his head and dismissed the thought. It was an absurd idea, even for him.
Who could face the Grandmaster and Jowung, control golems, and rival two 7th class mages at once? It was undoubtedly an outrageous rumor.
El turned his gaze to the Radiant Knights and spoke in a slow tone, “So you’re looking for the Holy Maiden? I have a woman with tremendous divine power right here with me.”
Upon El’s words, the expressions of everyone brightened up.
“Oh! Thank you, Gods! We’ve finally found the Holy Maiden!”
It had been a long journey. It took more than three times longer than when the Holy Maiden appeared hundreds of years ago to find her. With a joyful tone, Volek asked again.
“Really, is the Holy Maiden doing well?”
El nodded, “If she’s doing well, then she must be doing well.”
“That’s a relief. If she wasn’t the Martial Emperor, she could have been in danger. By the way, what’s your relationship with the Holy Maiden?”
“Well…”
El smiled at that question, a smile that seemed to provoke uncertainty.
“Could it be…?”
And just when Volek was imagining something anxious, El delivered his decisive blow.
“The woman you call the Holy Maiden is the woman I’m going to marry.”
Kuung!
Volek and the other Radiant Knights were shocked, as if they had been struck by lightning.
Of course, it was inevitable. The Holy Maiden was the noblest and most chaste existence. The woman chosen as the Holy Maiden couldn’t marry throughout her life, let alone touch a man’s body.
And yet, he claimed he was going to marry the Holy Maiden?
It wasn’t just something that shouldn’t happen; it was something that should never exist.
The shock was so great that Volek stammered, “Th-then…”
El firmly cut him off, “Of course, I won’t give her up. I’ll do whatever it takes to stop you all.”
“Ugh!”
El’s words made Volek and the other Radiant Knights groan. It was awkward to have a 7th class mage as an enemy.
Volek said, “You wouldn’t be trying to use magic against us, would you? The Radiant Knights have formidable anti-magic capabilities. Even if you’re a 7th class mage, it’s not easy to deal with us.”
He was right. The Radiant Knights’ holy gloves possessed incredible anti-magic abilities, and their unique defenses provided protection even against powerful magic. It was clear that it would be difficult for them to face Radiant Knights even as a 7th class mage.
“Normally, that would be true.”
At Volek’s words, El smirked and spread his hands wide.
“But I won’t go easy on you. When I saw the change in my woman, I started preparing. I won’t give her up, even if I have to fight the whole kingdom.”
Then Volek stiffened his expression and said, “Then the only option left is war.”
“Even in a war, I won’t back down.”
As he said that, El’s body turned and he started to retreat. Gradually increasing his speed, he continued speaking, “I’ll defeat all of you and warn those who covet what’s mine. Come, try and stop me!”
With that, El’s body disappeared into the valley. Watching him vanish into the dark fog, Volek shouted, “We’re advancing too! Let’s go into the valley and bring the Holy Maiden with us!”
“Yes, for the Goddess!”
“For the Goddess!”
As they praised the Goddess and shouted their battle cries, they moved forward. The faint divine power surrounded the Radiant Knights. They were facing a 7th class mage, and one who called himself the Martial Emperor no less.
Although Volek and Hyden were the first to notice the change in the mana movement, everyone eventually noticed it. Hyden spoke as the surroundings gradually darkened, “What kind of magic is this? I’ve never seen anything like it.”
“It must be the spell prepared by the Martial Emperor. Or it could be a test for us… First, let’s strengthen our divine power. Our goal is not to capture the Martial Emperor but to bring the Holy Maiden.”
“Understood. Everyone, use the Blessing of Light. Blessing of Light!”
“Blessing of Light!”
When Hyden and the other Radiant Knights shouted, a radiant glow erupted around them. With the Blessing of Light, their divine power surged, making their movements faster and their defenses stronger. Despite being a 7th class mage, they were facing the Radiant Knights who could easily fend off up to 5th class magic with their divine power.
El, on the other hand, unleashed the true power of the Dark Fog he had deployed earlier.
“Five Senses Remove!”
Shaaaah!
As the dark magic surged, its power began to manifest following El’s command. He took out his glasses and put them on.
“Now, shall we go?”
With that, El infiltrated into the Dark Fog.
El’s Dark Fog could be considered his greatest creation, prepared in anticipation of a conflict with the kingdom. Within the Five Senses Remove spell deployed by the Dark Fog were five different magic spells layered together.
Blind, which stole sight. Deaf, which took away hearing. Scentless, which blocked smell. Taste Sense Remove, which deprived the sense of taste. Sense of Touch Remove, which induced numbness.
It was an unimaginably terrifying magic that erased all five senses of a human being.
Of course, such magic had a short duration and was only effective against low-level individuals or those with exceptional anti-magic abilities.
But who was El? Wasn’t he someone who came from a completely different world, established a different magic system here, and created unimaginable magic?
Ironically, El’s inspiration for this magic came from the game StarCraft he enjoyed in his previous life.
Of course, the situation was very different. However, his idea was to apply the same principles of using the Zerg unit, the Defiler, which created the Dark Swarm that made melee units invulnerable, to create a magic that would hinder the movements of the knights.
Even if it was a low-level magic for those with high anti-magic abilities, El layered the magic to create a spell that would strip the senses from the surroundings like a web.
