Golden Mage - Chapter 76
Volume 3, Episode 16
The magic wasn’t directly targeted at the Holy Knights. It was merely an array of multiple magics deployed in the air, causing the surrounding Holy Knights to be ensnared in its effects.
As it combined five low-class magics, it resulted in a powerful magic that took away all five human senses and bestowed them with a formidable rebirth.
The deployed magic immediately overwhelmed the Holy Knights. Suddenly, everything turned dark, and they couldn’t feel anything, leaving the Holy Knights bewildered.
“W-What is this?”
The Holy Knights, who hadn’t experienced this kind of magic before, were engulfed by a momentary surge of confusion as all their senses were taken away. The situation was no different for Hayden.
“W-What is this?!”
Hayden, who led the Glorious Knights and possessed stronger spiritual power than other Holy Knights, couldn’t escape the magic entirely either. Almost all of his senses were blocked. The only difference he had from the other knights was that his sense of touch was somewhat intact, allowing him to feel the movements of others around him, albeit confusingly.
Though inwardly flustered, Hayden did his best to remain composed and shouted, “Don’t panic, everyone! We’ve just fallen under a magic spell! Steady your stance and chant the Blessing of Light! The Archduke will bestow His blessing upon us! Blessing of Light!”
His shouts would fall upon the deaf ears of those Holy Knights far away. Nonetheless, the Holy Knights chanted the Blessing of Light with their characteristic composure.
“Blessing of Light!”
In response, a radiant white light enveloped them, manifesting sacred magic.
However, that was all it did; the magic that had been cast upon them didn’t dissipate. The divine magic failed to take effect.
Astonished, Hayden muttered, “What kind of magic is this…?”
Magic of this caliber typically didn’t surpass Class 5. Yet, the Holy Knights, who could easily dismiss magic up to Class 5, were caught in confusion under this magic. It was truly an unbelievable situation.
“We can’t break free with our own power.”
Realizing they couldn’t escape with their own strength, Hayden exclaimed, “Archduke Balrek!”
He shouted loudly, but there was no response. Being stripped of all their senses, there was no way for their message to reach the other party. Even if it somehow did, they were in a state where they couldn’t hear anything, rendering any communication pointless.
“Hmm.”
Not far from Hayden, El smirked.
In his arms lay the unconscious Balrek. The sacred magic invoked by the Archduke significantly reduced the influence of the Dark Fog, so El had taken the opportunity to act beforehand.
A faint blue light surrounded El’s entire body, starting from his glasses, which surprisingly allowed him to be free from the Dark Fog’s sensory blockage.
An artifact intertwined with five types of magic like this could only be created by El, the only artifact creator among the High Elves.
El adjusted his glasses and said, “I understand your concern for the Saintess, but I cannot hand Serena over. She is my woman.”
Snap!
With that, El’s body disappeared like smoke. He had executed a Blink.
And just like that, El reappeared near the Magatap where the Dark Fog had no effect. There stood around ten people, each with a resolute expression. They were none other than the knights who had pledged their loyalty to El.
El set Balrek down and addressed them, having already confided everything in them beforehand.
“The decision is yours. I have no intention of delaying what I have decided. Whatever you choose, it is your responsibility.”
El’s words prompted a moment of silence from them. It was Myder who broke the silence. He grasped the spear in his hand firmly and spoke up.
“Topjum-nim [Archduke], you have allowed us all to live as humans. Even if it means rushing into hell, I will follow Topjum-nim.”
His words were like a detonator. Mos, the leader among the knights, nodded firmly, having made up his mind.
“I will also follow Topjum-nim.”
“I, too…”
All ten knights declared that they would follow El. Their words gave El a surge of strength, and he could not help but smile.
“Thank you very much. Then…”
With a wave of his hand, a spatial rift opened in the air. From there, El took out something — it was none other than his glasses. El handed them out, one by one, to the knights.
“These are artifacts unaffected by the magic I’ve set up. If you wear them, they won’t have any effect on you.”
He then took out another object that looked like a bracelet, white in color. El added an explanation.
“This is a sealing bracelet that can seal your divine power. Once filled, you’ll only have power equivalent to that of an ordinary person.”
Each knight received a pair of glasses and a sealing bracelet from El. After securing them on their wrists, they entered the Dark Fog.
“We’ve subdued all the Holy Knights.”
Mos came out of the Dark Fog and reported to El. His face was flushed, possibly due to the excitement of having successfully subdued the Holy Knights he had only heard rumors about.
El nodded. “You’ve done well. It’s fortunate that nothing else happened.”
With that, El entered the barrier and lifted the Dark Fog. The barrier dissipated, revealing the situation inside clearly. A hundred knights clad in white armor lay unconscious. Each of them wore a sealing bracelet on their wrists.
El looked at the knights and muttered softly, “Now it begins…”
Since the disappearance of one Archduke and the entire Glorious Knights, the Holy Kingdom would undoubtedly make significant moves.
A great wind was about to blow across the continent.
A very big wind…
