Golden Mage - Chapter 80
Volume 3, Chapter 20
Fierce momentum erupted in all directions as the Golden Sword clashed with the War Hammer.
Bang! Crash! Bang!
The deep blue Ora Blade and the pure white sacred power collided, creating a powerful shockwave. Duke Diard swung the War Hammer, expertly deflecting the sharp blows from the Golden Sword.
The Golden Knight stood around 3 meters tall, comparable in size to a troll. Even with lightweight magic applied to his entire metallic body, his weight was still immense. Consequently, the Golden Knight maximized the use of his heavy physique during combat, and his attacks posed the worst matchup for Duke Diard, who wielded the War Hammer with his immense strength.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
“Kreugh!”
The Golden Knight exerted his weight and launched a solid attack. Duke Diard began to retreat, groaning softly.
Duke Diard’s fighting style was similar to the Golden Knight’s, relentlessly launching powerful strikes. However, facing the Golden Knight, Duke Diard couldn’t fully showcase his abilities.
Seizing the opportunity, the Golden Knight swung his Golden Sword even more ferociously. The intense attacks continuously swept through, making it challenging for Duke Diard to counter effectively.
Thud!
In response to the situation, the Golden Knight leaned forward and skillfully avoided Duke Diard’s incoming attack.
Clang!
The two combatants continued to exchange blows, and with each collision, the ground shook, creating deep cracks. Duke Diard, focusing all his strength, sent the War Hammer smashing against the Golden Knight’s assaults.
Crack! Crack!
The shell surrounding the War Hammer broke away, revealing a dense black color emanating from it. The energy released was different from the sacred power, exuding an overwhelming force.
El was taken aback, realizing the true nature of the weapon.
“A Saint Hammer? How can a relic like that…”
Indeed, it was the Saint Hammer, one of the three artifacts known as the “Goddess’s Grace,” capable of nullifying all energies except sacred power. It possessed the overwhelming ability to obliterate anything, including Aura Blades and 7th-class magic, leaving no trace behind.
Now, the Saint Hammer was in Duke Diard’s hands.
Duke Diard tightly gripped the hammer with both hands and swiftly charged towards the Golden Knight.
“You made me use this weapon, and that alone makes you formidable. Now, vanish!”
El shouted, instructing the Golden Knight to avoid close combat and engage from a distance.
“Where?”
As Duke Diard closed in rapidly, the Golden Knight swiftly moved back.
The Golden Knight possessed both close and long-range combat abilities, a rare feat even among skilled swordsmen. With his unique and powerful Ora, he could execute both forms of combat.
Avoiding Duke Diard’s attacks, the Golden Knight unleashed a storm of powerful Ora that surged towards Duke Diard.
Duke Diard tried to withstand the Ora storm by channeling all his power into the War Hammer and throwing it towards the Golden Knight.
The impact was massive, causing the Ora storm to dissipate, but the attack did not end there. The Golden Knight continued to unleash one powerful Ora storm after another.
“Ugh!”
Duke Diard evaded each Ora storm one by one, realizing how difficult it was to engage the Golden Knight in close combat due to his remarkable speed and proficiency.
However, Duke Diard refused to give up. He intensified the power of the War Hammer and hurled it at the Golden Knight once more.
The Golden Knight had an unexpected trick up his sleeve. Right before the War Hammer struck him, a rift in space opened, and the Golden Knight’s massive body vanished without a trace. Reappearing about 20 meters away, the Golden Knight was unscathed.
Witnessing this, Duke Diard’s eyes widened, surprised at the teleportation.
“A secret technique, perhaps?”
El nodded with a calm expression, “Yes, it’s a hidden means of escape. I didn’t expect him to throw the War Hammer like that.”
Indeed, Duke Diard was taken aback as well. He had no idea that the powerful hammer, known as one of the three greatest artifacts on the continent, capable of nullifying all energies except sacred power, could be thrown like that.
“I see.”
As Duke Diard prepared to throw the War Hammer again, El raised his hand, gesturing to stop him. The battle had caused severe damage to the Golden Knight, but fighting any further seemed futile.
“Wait! How about we call it quits?”
