Golden Mage - Chapter 87
Volume 3, Episode 27
How could it not be like this? Clearly, they had vowed to dedicate their lives to fulfilling God’s words. And so did the other Holy Knights. It was not just about dying miserably for magic; it was a story of being gloriously sacrificed to fulfill God’s words.
The Pope’s eyes brimmed with deep anger.
“In nomine!”
But his outburst of anger only elicited laughter from El.
“Why? Regretting only now that the Holy Knights die in vain? If that’s the case, it’s too late.”
Once again, a golden light shimmered in El’s hand. And the golden arrow that formed in his hand was bigger and sharper than the one before.
“Al Fliche!”
El shot it at the Master-Class Holy Knight.
“Where!”
Raklik, the Master-Class Holy Knight and Vice Commander of the Holy Chalice Order, swung his powerful divine power with his War Hammer to strike the golden arrow.
Thunk!
The collision produced a terrifying rebound force!
Of course, it was to be expected. Didn’t this golden arrow even push back Duke Dyard, the Grand Master? There was no way Master-Class Raklik could withstand such an attack entirely.
“Argh! Such power!”
As Raklik blocked the arrow, he staggered back, raising his War Hammer. In that moment, Nagram Viscount’s voice echoed in his ear.
“It’s dangerous! Evade it!”
Raklik looked up and saw a golden afterimage. The golden arrow had pierced right through his exposed heart without any resistance.
Thud!
“Ugh!”
There was no one who could survive after having their heart pierced. Raklik’s life force rapidly faded, and his body crumbled helplessly.
Viscount Nagram called Raklik’s name as he fell.
“Raklik!”
There was no reply from a body that had already lost its life force. He was dead. A Master-Class Holy Knight.
Not even an 8th Class Magus or a 7th Class Magus could manage this. It was as if the formula that stated a 7th Class Magus couldn’t defeat a Master-Class expert had been completely shattered. The Holy Knights looked at El with astonishment.
El smiled at those Holy Knights.
“Master… Though powerful, you can’t stand against me.”
As he said so, sweat covered El’s face. Moreover, he didn’t look steady; he had expended a considerable amount of stamina.
This was only natural. The Refinement Forging Magic El was using required an enormous amount of mana, forcibly transforming the form and strength of the target. Therefore, the mana consumed each time he used the magic was incomparably massive compared to other spells.
With such immense power, the Refinement Forging Magic was a double-edged sword, indeed.
Nobody could miss El’s evident condition. The Pope looked at the Holy Knights surrounding him and shouted.
“Gold Tower Knights are exhausted! Capture him and fulfill God’s words!”
At the Pope’s command, the Holy Knights all brandished their weapons and shouted.
“For the Goddess!”
With that, the Holy Knights rushed towards El in unison. El retreated, feeling that the Refinement Forging Magic was still not familiar enough. He gave an order to the Golden Knight.
“Go, Tana! Let your power be known across the continent today! Deploy the Gold Phoenix!”
The Blue Radiance in the Golden Knight’s eyes burst out.
“My Lord. Command. Executing.”
Whooosh!
Stepping back about 10 meters, the Golden Knight hung the Golden Sword on his waist and raised his right hand.
Kiiing! Kiiing!
Chiiing! Chiiing!
Accompanied by the sound of space fissures, space began to open. And what emerged from another dimension was a golden bow. It was the second weapon among the three possessed by the continent’s strongest golem, the Golden Knight—the Gold Phoenix.
The Gold Phoenix absorbed an enormous amount of mana from its surroundings. The incredible amount of mana being absorbed made intricate runes engraved on the golden bow visible. Along with it, golden arrows made of mana appeared.
These arrows were solidified from the mana gathered from the surroundings, a true form of Aurora Blade’s arrow. As the Golden Knight aimed the Gold Phoenix at the Holy Knights, he pulled the arrowstring.
Twaaang!
The mana from the surroundings was entirely drawn into the Gold Phoenix. As an immense amount of mana was absorbed, a large amount of intricate runes engraved on the golden bow became apparent. Along with it, golden arrows formed.
These arrows were the physical manifestation of the mana gathered from the surroundings, a true form of Aurora Blade’s arrows. The Golden Knight released the arrowstring.
Shoooaah!
The golden arrow tore through the earth with frightening speed. Its force was so tremendous that it seemed capable of splitting the world apart, far surpassing any previous attacks.
Nagram Viscount sensed the power and shouted.
“Everyone, unleash your divine power to cast protective magic! It’s dangerous! Those without the capacity to deploy magic, retreat! Goddess’s Blessing!”
After Nagram Viscount deployed his protective magic, the Holy Knights also cast their best protective magic.
“Goddess’s Blessing!”
Fwoosh!
A dense white barrier formed, enveloping them. This was the strongest protective magic that Holy Knights could deploy.
However, the Gold Phoenix was currently the Golden Knight’s strongest offensive means. Although it took a long time to launch the attack, its power in a large-scale assault was second to none.
The Gold Phoenix effortlessly broke through the Holy Knights’ defensive magic.
Thud!
“Argh!”
The Holy Knights were sent flying backward as a result of the Gold Phoenix’s overwhelming momentum. Having expended a significant portion of their strength in the battle, they couldn’t erect robust protective magic.
However, the combined strength of the Holy Knights was insufficient to block the Gold Phoenix, even when they united their defensive magic.
The Gold Phoenix went straight for the Pope. In response, dozens of Holy Knights stood in front of the Pope and simultaneously deployed their protective magic.
“Goddess’s Blessing!”
Fwoooosh!
Multiple Saint Shields formed. But they were still inadequate to withstand the power of the Gold Phoenix, which shattered all eight of the Saint Shields.
Crack! Crumble!
However, the Gold Phoenix’s force had its limits, and it rapidly weakened, causing an explosion.
Thud!
“Argh!”
“Agh!”
With screams, dozens of Holy Knights were sent flying. However, their defensive magic mitigated the damage. They were merely bounced away by the shockwave.
“Such power…”
