Helmut: The Forsaken Child - Chapter 123
# 123
Helmut
Episode 123
“You are guarding the bear for a moment. “I’ll be back soon.”
“Hey, I heard you shouldn’t go around alone like that.”
“10 minutes is enough. Anyway, I have a personal training center. Just be the right guy.”
Helmut’s attention was focused on other things rather than the competition. It is enough to just have a game to show off as having participated in the competition.
No matter how many incidents occurred, it would be shameful for a student to go away empty-handed after being the top student in the swordsmanship department.
“You can hunt in 10 minutes?”
“You said there were a lot of animals near the water.”
Helmut nodded his head calmly.
“First, go to where the bear is. “It would be a problem if an animal ate it.”
“yes! “It’s my harvest.”
They walked quickly. I wondered if something strange would happen, such as the entire bear disappearing like the trap disappeared last time, but that didn’t happen.
Luckily for Asuka, his bear was still in place.
“Is bear meat delicious?”
Asuka muttered with a happy expression and looked at the bear. Even though it may be difficult to lift and carry it, it seems like you can lift it and drag it back if you use bis.
“Then I will leave.”
Helmut gave a stern warning before leaving.
“If anything happens, scream. “I’ll come running right away.”
“I’m just going to sit here quietly. “There’s no way something could happen.”
Asuka said as she sat down on the bear carcass.
Helmut pursed his lips. I guess I should give you a warning.
“Maybe the guys who tried to target you last time but ran away could target you again.”
“You mean those Black Hawk guys?”
“Yes, this is outside the academy.”
“What are you a coward? This is an official Greta Academy event. They know where we are. Besides, the people who requested it back then are all not at the academy, so what’s happening?”
Asuka snorted. It doesn’t seem like he has any intention of listening to it.
‘It would be better to go quickly and come back.’
Helmut postponed his explanation. Even if Asuka found out at this stage, she would only get excited and ruin things.
Their goal is themselves anyway. You won’t have to go far from here, so if a fight breaks out, you’ll be able to feel it.
Asuka asked at the back of Helmut’s head as he left.
“But where are you going?”
“In the direction that Basil saw something.”
The location of the trap was so exquisite that I had no choice but to step on it. Perhaps there is something beyond that.
“what? Then what if you step on the trap too?”
“That doesn’t happen. “I’ll be back soon, so just stay here.”
Like a brother leaving a child behind, Helmut once again left a warning. Asuka nodded reluctantly.
“okay.”
Helmut hurried his steps. Soon we reached the place where Basil was trapped.
A faint trace of blood left on the floor. It’s a good smell to attract animals. But the forest was quiet. It is still daytime, so it is not the time for animals to be active.
‘It was over there.’
He walked slowly. I already knew that the other person was good at hiding his presence.
Helmut was a human who grew up in the forest of Pahe. A human being who does not have a strong outer shell or tremendous resilience like a monster.
Because of that, a single carelessness can cause him fatal wounds. Naturally, caution took over my body.
‘There’s something over there.’
Something like fur is moving between the trees. Basil wasn’t looking for nothing.
However, the problem was that it was not visible when Instructor Patricia and Professor Dwayne were here, but it began to be visible from the moment Helmut appeared alone.
‘It doesn’t look like an animal. Is there something hanging on it?’
Movements are irregular. As I approached there, it rattled! A noise echoed from the side.
Helmut’s sword was pulled out like lightning. This time it’s not a trap aimed at your ankles. He cut down something flying quickly towards him.
wickedness! It was cut cleanly by the vis-covered sword and fell to the floor.
“line?”
A tightly stretched iron rope flew out. A sharp, sharp file that looks like it has been ground. It is capable of cutting flesh.
It was fortunate that Basil had stepped into the trap earlier. Considering the height and speed at which the iron rope flew, it would be difficult for him to deal with it. He may have suffered fatal injuries to his neck or head.
“If some unlucky bastard had come this way, I might have died.”
Helmut left the rope and walked away. I didn’t feel like I was popular around me. However, we should not overlook that there may be other pitfalls.
‘That’s it.’
Helmut soon found out what had seduced Basil. What was moving was a doe tied to a string.
The doe moved around and whined, trying to get free from the leash. Because the string was long, the back and forth movement was noticeable.
It seemed like she struggled for quite a while, but in the end, the doe was unable to break free from the tight rope.
The exhausted eyes of the doe were sad enough to evoke sympathy.
But it didn’t work for Helmut. He lifted his bow and shot an arrow in one go.
puck! The deer, whose neck was pierced, collapsed from its seat. Helmut muttered.
“Thanks to you, I found good game.”
If I was lucky, I might even be in the rankings. It would be difficult to find better prey among those swarming around the campground.
Helmut carefully approached the deer and looked around. There must be someone around here who installed the device. I don’t feel anything.
‘But it was here until relatively recently.’
When a person passes through a forest, it is impossible not to leave behind any traces.
Helmut looked closely at the spot where the grass had been trampled.
Maybe a man. He is a man with well-trained muscles, so he weighs quite a bit. That’s all we can guess.
‘Are you still waiting for group activities?’
So, let’s think of this as just a greeting.
Helmut lifted the deer up. As I carried it on my back and returned, Asuka, who had been dozing off while sitting on the bear, raised her head.
He has very sensitive senses. I told him to be alert to his surroundings, but it was absurd that he completely forgot what I said and fell asleep in such a short period of time.
“Oh, are you here already?”
Asuka stood up.
“You’re talented too. I can’t believe they just caught a deer. “Even if I leave you alone in the forest, you won’t starve to death.”
Asuka stuck her tongue out. He looked curiously at the deer Helmut was carrying.
“You caught it in one shot?”
“I guess it was this deer that Basil saw.”
“I’m glad that bastard didn’t see anything wrong. “Is it okay to get hurt because you see something wrong at a young age?”
Asuka snorted, speaking in an unsympathetic tone. He is confident that he would never have stepped on a trap.
‘He’s a guy with good quick wits.’
“I guess there weren’t any more traps?”
“It was there, but I avoided it. “I heard something like an iron rope was flying.”
“what? Iron rope? Crazy, isn’t that mostly for hunting people? What kind of vicious bastard is doing something dangerous in the forest! Just hope the poacher gets caught! “Break all your limbs.”
Is the reason why he feels indignant just because he feels uneasy about walking around? Helmut didn’t bother to ask.
“Let’s go back.”
Asuka asked as Helmut gestured.
“But it will be difficult for you to come in first place with that, is that okay?”
“doesn’t care.”
“okay.”
Asuka lifted the bear halfway and dragged it. Because of his short stature, he was unable to completely lift the bear. Even if the fur gets damaged, there is nothing we can do about it.
It took much more time to go than to come. Asuka seemed a little tired after having to pass the same road twice.
By the time he arrived, beads of sweat were forming on his face. Still, he didn’t seek help.
Asuka’s independent side, which did not ask for help from others, was similar to Helmut’s.
“Ah, I’m dying from this hardship!”
Asuka screamed as soon as they arrived at the campsite.
Instructor Patricia and the members of Team 9, who were back at the camp, opened their eyes wide and looked at his prey.
“Is that a bear?”
“Oh my god, Asuka, did you catch a bear?”
“I was lucky.”
Asuka scratched her nose with a triumphant look on her face. The atmosphere, which had been calm due to Basil’s work, became excited again. Everyone was busy looking at the bear Asuka brought.
“What’s going on? “Is this the feeling of winning?”
“It was worth going to that far shore.”
Helmut, who had caught a deer but had not received much attention, glanced around.
There weren’t many people left in the campground. The three members of Team 9, who had just returned, and Professor Dwayne, Patricia’s instructor, were the only ones left.
Instructor Alan said he went to look around after hearing the news of the accident.
There was a wide spread of cloth in the center of the camp. It seems to be a place to keep game. Helmut also put down his prey there.
“It’s a doe. “Deer meat is delicious.”
Instructor Patricia belatedly paid attention to Helmut.
“Good job, guys!”
I didn’t know if I could get into the rankings if I did well. Helmut decided to wait and see who would receive something. Since you are participating in a competition, it is better to have something to win.
The members of Group 9 belatedly left the tent, saying they wanted to hunt in the surrounding area again.
Asuka, who had left the bear in the same place as Helmut, lay down on her back in the 9-room tent.
“Oh, it’s hard. “I need to get some sleep.”
Helmut also sat down and lay down. I was about to organize my thoughts.
Traps placed all over the place. Pedica Forest, the suspicious camp manager. And Black Hawk. The tension that feels like something is going to happen but doesn’t.
What is certain is that the enemy is putting effort into it. For some plan.
‘It’s like solving a mystery.’
But Helmut will find the answer. The answer Helmut will find will be one that the enemies targeting him do not want.
*
In the afternoon, the second-year students carrying game began to return little by little.
Helmut finished eating inside the tent with Asuka. After taking a nap and filling up her stomach, Asuka seemed to have recovered quickly.
“Let’s see, there’s no one who caught anything better than me, right?”
Asuka left the tent’s entrance open and watched the prey in the center with hawk eyes.
Fortunately, what was placed there were small animals such as rabbits and raccoon birds.
As it got closer to 5 p.m., not a single student returned.
Instructors Patricia and Alan went around checking the number of people.
It was only Basil who had the accident. Wesley and Mitchell, who left with him, have not yet returned.
After completing the evaluation, two instructors and a professor gathered the students together and announced the award results in order, starting with 5th place.
“Second place Asuka!”
When I was selected as second place, Asuka couldn’t believe her ears. He had absolutely no doubt that he would win.
Because no one had caught any wild animals like tigers or leopards that could be found in a forest like this.
‘Who will win?’
As if to answer a question, an announcement was made immediately.
“First place Bruce!”
