The Heavenly Demon Wants a Quiet Life - Chapter 80
Chapter 80: So Annoying
The moment they disembarked from the ship, people from the Hao Clan’s Wuhan branch approached.
They efficiently began unloading the cargo.
The valuable items were carefully packed and taken off separately, while the more mundane goods were stacked neatly on large carts.
The pills transported from the waterwheel were loaded onto another specially prepared wagon.
Byeok Taesan and his party left the ship before the unloading began.
Everyone remained silent, and the reason for their subdued demeanor was Yeon Harin.
Now that they had arrived in Wuhan, Yeon Harin had to return to the Yeon Manor.
Although she had grown accustomed to traveling with Byeok Taesan, the thought of parting with him caused her chest to ache.
“What will Yoo Seoyeon do?”
Yeon Harin, suppressing her feelings about the impending separation from Byeok Taesan, directed her question to Yoo Seoyeon.
She was determined to respect Yoo Seoyeon’s wishes entirely.
In fact, she even considered whether letting Yoo Seoyeon go might be better for her.
‘After all, they’ll be living together sooner or later.’
Yeon Harin looked resolutely between Yoo Seoyeon and Byeok Taesan.
Yoo Seoyeon stared back at Yeon Harin in silence.
She genuinely wanted to follow Yeon Harin.
It wasn’t just because she wanted to stay with her. More than that, she wanted to escape, even briefly, from the hellish training she had endured.
On the ship to Wuhan, Yoo Seoyeon had experienced a glimpse of pure torment.
She had painfully realized what it meant to train the Divine Wing Spirit Technique on the rocking deck of a ship.
She even overheard Byeok Taesan muttering about incorporating such training methods when they returned home.
It was clear that what awaited her was a training hell even worse than what she’d experienced so far.
At this point, it no longer mattered whether she lagged behind Cheon Kyungwan.
Cheon Kyungwan likely felt the same.
She would eventually be dragged back to the Golden Wall Merchants anyway. Byeok Taesan wouldn’t leave her alone.
However, she desperately wanted to enjoy a few days of freedom and peace.
Yoo Seoyeon took a deep breath to calm herself.
She was about to voice her desire when the Heavenly Divine Healer intervened.
“What else can she do? It’s only natural for the thread to follow the needle.”
The Heavenly Divine Healer made the comment, looking between Yoo Seoyeon and Cheon Kyungwan with a mischievous expression.
Yeon Harin widened her eyes in surprise and stared at the Heavenly Divine Healer.
“What? Surely, you don’t mean…”
The Heavenly Divine Healer chuckled.
“What, you didn’t realize? You’re as oblivious as our Young Master. They’re at the final step, so separating them now would be a waste.”
Yoo Seoyeon missed her chance to speak and could only gape at the Heavenly Divine Healer in shock.
Her gaze slowly turned to Yeon Harin, filled with silent desperation.
“You don’t have to look at me like that. I’m sorry, I didn’t realize. Alright. From now on, Yoo Seoyeon will stay with our Young Master. I… I’ll handle things on my end. Just wait a little. Alright?”
At Yeon Harin’s words, Yoo Seoyeon felt as if the sky was collapsing.
She shook her head vigorously.
“No, Young Lady. You don’t have to do that.”
“Well, now that I know, how could I not?”
“Exactly! Pretending not to know would be unkind.”
When the Heavenly Divine Healer added his opinion, Yoo Seoyeon turned sharply to glare at him.
It seemed as if sparks would shoot from her eyes.
Even if she followed Yeon Harin, she might only get three days of rest—or perhaps not even a full day. Yet he was robbing her of that.
The Heavenly Divine Healer, seeing this, smiled warmly.
“You don’t have to look so grateful. If I don’t take care of things, who will? Do you think our Young Master, who only cares about himself, will? Or our Young Master, who’s as clueless as a thumbtack?”
With that, the Heavenly Divine Healer gestured to Yeon Harin.
“There’s no point in wasting time here. Young Lady, you should go. Pay your respects, report on what happened with the Hubei Martial Alliance, and take care of everything else you need to do.”
At his words, Yeon Harin bit her lip but nodded.
She turned to Byeok Taesan with a wistful gaze.
“Young Master, I’ll return soon. So… please wait for me.”
“Do whatever you want.”
Byeok Taesan’s response brought a radiant smile to Yeon Harin’s face.
It was as if her smile brightened the entire area.
The Heavenly Divine Healer, observing her, leaned toward the Needle Master and whispered.
“She’s stunning, isn’t she? What do you think? Even compared to that Medicine King they talk about, I doubt anyone is more beautiful than our Young Lady.”
“A man who only thinks about himself wouldn’t understand such things.”
“Oh, come on. Are you still upset about that? Our esteemed senior is definitely showing his age.”
The Needle Master glared at him.
“What does age have to do with this?”
“They say people become childish as they age. Isn’t that why you’re acting like this?”
The Needle Master sighed deeply and gave him a fearsome look.
“I’ll chop off your legs and make you as small as a child.”
“Why do you always take things in such a violent direction? Look around. You’re scaring everyone.”
The Needle Master glanced around at the onlookers, who were visibly tense.
In that moment, the Heavenly Divine Healer quickly moved behind Byeok Taesan and smirked at the Needle Master.
The Needle Master clenched his fists, trembling with anger, as he resolved to land at least one punch on him today.
While the Heavenly Divine Healer and the Needle Master bickered, the unloading was completed, and Yeon Harin departed for the Yeon Manor.
Byeok Taesan, along with a wagon full of cargo, headed toward the Golden Wall Merchants.
—
At the main gate, a group awaited Byeok Taesan’s arrival.
The Golden Wall Merchants had been monitoring the docks for days in anticipation of his return.
The most senior individual present was Ga Mujin, the General Manager.
The moment he spotted Byeok Taesan in the distance, he rushed toward him.
Behind him, seven other high-ranking individuals from the Golden Wall Merchants followed, hurrying after him.
When they reached Byeok Taesan, they immediately bowed at a sharp angle.
“Young Master, welcome back.”
Byeok Taesan narrowed his eyes, looking down at the General Manager, wondering what prompted such behavior.
Receiving no response, the General Manager hesitantly straightened his back and flashed a servile smile.
“It’s such a relief to see you’ve returned safely, Young Master.”
Byeok Taesan ignored the comment and calmly surveyed the individuals standing deferentially behind the General Manager.
The Heavenly Divine Healer stepped forward smoothly, positioning himself in front of Byeok Taesan.
“Ah, greetings to the Divine Healer and the Needle Master as well.”
The group bowed deeply to the Heavenly Divine Healer and the Needle Master in turn.
“We appreciate the warm reception, though… it seems your attitude has changed since we left. Did something happen?”
“Hahaha, a change in attitude? Not at all. We were simply too busy back then to give proper attention. Now that things have settled a bit, we came out to welcome you. Absolutely. Hahaha.”
It was clear to anyone that his words were far from genuine.
Even the General Manager himself likely realized the inconsistency in his explanation.
“Come, come. Please step inside. I’ve made every preparation to help the Young Master recover from the journey.”
One of the nearby individuals quickly chimed in to support the General Manager’s words.
“That’s right. The water has been heated, a feast of nourishing dishes has been prepared, and rare wines have been brought out for the others to enjoy and relax. Feel free to indulge.”
Evidently, he had organized all this and was eager to make it known.
Byeok Taesan gave a single nod before striding forward.
He didn’t particularly care for their efforts, as he was more than capable of handling such matters himself.
These people were simply posturing.
The General Manager hurriedly caught up to walk alongside Byeok Taesan.
“Uh… Young Master. Wouldn’t it be a good idea to visit the Leader today?”
At this unexpected suggestion, Byeok Taesan turned his head to look at the General Manager.
“My elder brother?”
The words left Byeok Taesan’s mouth naturally, surprising him. He had expected it to feel awkward, yet it came effortlessly, accompanied by a strange sense of familiarity.
‘Hoh. Is this a reaction imprinted on my body or the lingering resonance of the spirit?’
Either way, it was an intriguing discovery.
Lost in thought, Byeok Taesan continued walking without speaking further, leaving the General Manager visibly uneasy.
“Uh… Young Master?”
“I’ll go.”
The General Manager’s face lit up instantly.
“Ahahaha, an excellent decision. If I may, the Leader has been…”
He trailed off mid-sentence, suddenly closing his mouth.
It wasn’t something he could casually say—that the Leader, Byeok Taesoo, cherished and paid special attention to Byeok Taesan.
Especially not in the presence of the Golden Wall Merchants’ key figures.
Some of these individuals were undoubtedly aligned with Byeok Taesoo’s wife, Chae Miryeong.
If word reached her that Byeok Taesoo held Byeok Taesan in special regard, it would serve no benefit to anyone.
Particularly during this precarious time.
Byeok Taesan entered the Golden Wall Manor, heading directly toward his residence.
The General Manager, caught off guard, hurried after him.
“Wait, Young Master. Weren’t you going to meet your elder brother…?”
“My people come first.”
Byeok Taesan’s tone was resolute, leaving no room for argument as he continued walking.
The General Manager stumbled to keep up but was stopped by a raised hand from Byeok Taesan.
“I know the way.”
“Excuse me?”
Byeok Taesan glanced briefly at the General Manager and the others following him.
“It means, don’t follow me.”
Though his voice was calm, the weight of his words bore down on them like a physical force.
“Erm.”
Someone coughed awkwardly, but it changed nothing.
Byeok Taesan turned and walked away decisively, followed closely by his group.
The General Manager and the others stood frozen, staring at their retreating figures until they disappeared from view.
Finally, they exhaled collectively, unable to hide their relief.
“Whew. Doesn’t the Second Young Master seem… quite different from before?”
At this remark, the others nodded in agreement.
“Perhaps he’s regaining his true nature now that his health has improved.”
They were individuals who had witnessed Byeok Taesan’s childhood.
Back then, Byeok Taesan had been extraordinary.
The General Manager grew increasingly uneasy.
‘If Chae Miryeong finds out about this, she won’t stay silent…’
—
Upon hearing of Byeok Taesan’s arrival, everyone at his residence had come out to line up and greet him.
Among them, the six remaining attendants stood out prominently.
The two physicians from the Heavenly Medicine Pavilion who had accompanied them stared blankly at the attendants.
They thought they had grown accustomed to seeing beautiful faces.
After all, they had traveled alongside Yeon Harin, Soso, Dan Yeong, Chae Wol, and Hwaryeong—stunning women in their own right—throughout the journey.
This wasn’t about who was more or less beautiful.
It was simply soothing to the eyes.
The two doctors looked at Byeok Taesan with a newfound sense of awe.
What kind of fortune must one be born with to live a life like his?
“What are you gawking at? Don’t just stand there awkwardly. Move along and get inside.”
The Heavenly Divine Healer approached the doctors and spoke firmly. Then, as if remembering something, he looked at them again.
“Huh? Wait a minute. Weren’t you two supposed to stay elsewhere?”
“Pardon? W-What do you mean by that?”
“Didn’t you agree to stay with the Hubei Martial Alliance? Why are you sneaking along here?”
At his words, the two physicians became visibly flustered.
They didn’t want to leave this place.
Considering what lay ahead, it was far more advantageous to stay here.
Living alongside the beautiful attendants was just an added bonus.
“Well, if we’re to establish proper exchanges between us and the Heavenly Medicine Pavilion, wouldn’t it be better for us to remain here?”
“Nope, that’s not how it works. Just go. The Hubei Martial Alliance members are already here; you can find them yourself.”
The two physicians looked pleadingly at Byeok Taesan.
He was the only one who could resolve this situation.
“Annoying.”
Leaving only that single word, Byeok Taesan walked inside without even glancing at them.
The Heavenly Divine Healer burst into laughter.
Soon, Cheon Kyungwan and Yoo Seoyeon stood in the physician’s way.
Knowing all too well the two’s skills and decisiveness, the physicians had no choice but to leave the Golden Wall Manor dejectedly.
Before entering his room, Byeok Taesan turned to look at the people who had followed him.
He saw ten attendants neatly lined up side by side.
Next to them stood the Heavenly Divine Healer, the Needle Master, Cheon Kyungwan, and Yoo Seoyeon.
Beyond them were Shadow 1, Shadow 2, Shadow 3—the servants he had taken in from the Unorthodox path.
{TL Note-: Due to Black might sound racist we have changed it to Shadow 1, Shadow 2, Shadow 3}
Seeing them all made Byeok Taesan feel, for the first time, that he had truly returned.
A faint smile tugged at his lips before vanishing.
“Go handle your tasks.”
With that, Byeok Taesan turned back around and entered his room.
Although his words weren’t particularly warm, everyone felt an inexplicable sense of comfort, and small smiles unconsciously formed on their faces.
