The Legendary Hero is an Academy Honors Student - Chapter 231
Chapter 231
Abad sat by the window in the third dormitory’s lounge, lost in thought.
‘What are the professors’ intentions?’
He glanced at his classmates who would lead the dormitory for the next year.
Duran Moira.
Eliza Hergin.
The top students from the Knight Studies and Summoning Departments.
Their problem was their mutual animosity.
‘The same goes for the second dormitory.’
Celia and Chelsea were the dormitory heads there.
‘Walden doesn’t care about others, so while he won’t make trouble, he won’t mediate conflicts either.’
Abad narrowed his eyes.
Even now, Duran sat with his arms crossed and eyes closed, while Eliza filed her nails as usual.
Though they appeared indifferent, a fierce conflict brewed beneath the surface.
“Shall we begin with the dormitory member selection?”
At Abad’s words, Duran opened one eye and Eliza glanced at him.
“Before that, we need a true leader between the three dorm leaders.”
“Oh, you mean you want me to take on that role?” Eliza said with a smirk.
“Don’t worry. As the successor to the Hergin family, I’ll lead the dorm well.”
Eliza crossed her legs and inspected her well-manicured nails, nodding with satisfaction.
Duran curled the corners of his mouth.
“Do you really think the position of leader suits you, with your self-righteous attitude?”
“I’ll ask you the very same thing.”
Abad laughed as the two glared fiercely at each other.
‘How should I resolve this? I don’t even know where to start.’
Despite his thoughts, Abad had no intention of relinquishing the leader position.
If the two agreed, he would take the role with his skills.
‘The three of us have nothing in common. Can we really lead the dorm effectively?’
Abad paused, then his eyes lit up.
‘Common ground?’
He cast a spell between the two, who were about to draw their weapons.
Whoosh—!
The sudden gust of wind made them frown and turn toward Abad.
“What is it, Abad Lewellin?”
“I see. You can’t give up the leader position either?”
“That’s right, Eliza. I can’t just give up the leader role. But before that, I’d like to discuss what’s going to happen.”
“What’s going to happen?”
“Yes.”
Abad walked over and sat on the sofa, his expression serious.
“The three of us have one thing in common.”
“I don’t think so.”
“I agree with Duran Moira.”
Abad smiled brightly, observing Duran’s cynical laughter and Eliza’s cold stare.
“Well maybe, at least, the two of you have one thing in common, right?”
“Are you trying to pick a fight?”
Duran frowned, while Eliza glared at Abad.
Abad smiled softly.
“Just kidding. Here’s what the three of us have in common: We all want to beat Leo Plov.”
Duran and Eliza’s eyes twitched.
“But at the same time, we admit we might never win.”
Until a year ago, it was an absurd thought for an unknown student to take the class representative position.
In reality, Leo seemed to lack the skills to be a class representative.
However, almost instantly, he was shoulder to shoulder with them and, in the blink of an eye, had overtaken them.
He began to move ahead and now stood far in front.
“Who admitted that?” Duran asked, his voice tinged with annoyance.
Eliza remained silent.
“Duran, let’s face the facts,” Abad said, his eyes devoid of emotion.
Duran clicked his tongue.
“But I have no intention of giving up,” Eliza replied bluntly.
“Me neither. That’s why I said we have something in common.”
Abad laughed.
“Our goal is the same. So, wouldn’t it be beneficial to cooperate?”
“Cooperate?”
“Yes. The competition between dormitories is already set. So.”
Abad’s eyes narrowed.
“Let’s aim to win the competition between dormitories.”
Duran and Eliza thought for a moment, then sighed deeply.
“I feel like I’m being convinced a little too easily, but let’s go with the flow.”
“Then the dorm members are important.”
Once they realized how their interests aligned, the three quickly consolidated their opinions.
“Howl from the Knights Studies Department is an excellent student. He’s definitely needed.”
“Jurdoun from the Summoning Department is also necessary.”
“I don’t think recruiting students based solely on grades is a good idea. It has to fit the dorm atmosphere, right? Our goal is to defeat Leo Plov. It’s best to recruit students who can help us achieve that goal.”
“Do you have any students in mind?”
Abad smirked at Eliza’s question and produced a deck of cards.
The cards had names and pictures of dorm students.
“When did you prepare these?”
“Since the start of freshman year. I made them to scout for talented peers to recruit into the family.”
Abad smiled and pulled out a card.
“The student we should recruit first is this one.”
Eliza’s eyes widened.
“Carr Thomas? He’s the lowest ranked in the Sorcery Department. Why is he the first choice?”
“You know how useful Carr can be, right?”
“Huh. Usefulness and excellence are different. We need to win against Leo Plov’s dormitory. Are you thinking of using his friendship with Leo Plov to spy on him?”
“Not at all.”
Abad chuckled.
“Though Carr has the lowest grades, he has a unique trait: he wants to be a supporter. He possesses a distinct strength that sets him apart from other students. He’s also versatile and can adapt to any dorm atmosphere.”
“Hmmm!”
“What do you think, Duran?”
“He’s useful.”
Eliza had a curt expression at their opinions.
“Okay. Then let’s accept Carr Thomas into our dormitory. But do you think Carr Thomas will agree?”
“We’ll have to find out.”

“Ha. Ha. Ha. Aren’t you overestimating me?”
“Don’t be discouraged. I called dibs on you because we need you,” Abad said with a grin. Abad stood in front of Leo and Chloe and declared, “Our dorm’s goal is to defeat Dormitory 1. The dorm leaders have agreed to unite toward this objective.”
He spread his arms in front of the cafeteria, addressing his fellow students.
“There won’t be any conflicts between dorm leaders, so you don’t need to worry.”
Abad spoke confidently, flashing a bright smile before returning to where Duran and Eliza waited.
The students began to murmur among themselves.
“I’m concerned about Duran and Eliza’s relationship, though.”
“If their goal is to beat Leo, those two will likely cooperate…”
“Then it seems like a solid plan.”
Interest in Dormitory 3 grew among the students.
“Isn’t it actually a plus to share a dorm with Eliza?”
“Are you part of Eliza’s fan club? What’s so great about that arrogant queen?”
“Be quiet! That’s exactly why she’s so cool.”
“Well, Abad and Duran are together in the same space, right?”
“That alone is satisfying to see.”
Some students revealed their personal preferences.
“But it’s intimidating to speak directly to those three.”
“Should I ask Carr?”
“Oh, Carr is also in the third dorm.”
“Okay. Let’s just ask Carr.”
Interest in Dormitory 3 soared.
Carr scratched his head as he observed the wave of students approaching him.
‘Did he even anticipate this kind of reaction?’
Leo snickered at the sight.
“You really made an impact?”
Not only did Carr lose out on his first choice, but he was also used as a propaganda tool.
“That’s right.”
Chloe placed her sorcery book aside.
Although she seemed indifferent, her eyes were filled with determination.
Meanwhile, Walden, who had been watching, spoke up.
“Celia Zerdinger, Chelsea Lewellin.”
“Why are you calling me, Walden?”
“How long will you continue to prioritize your personal feelings?”
“What do you mean?”
“They’ve chosen their own path.”
Walden gestured toward Dormitory 3 with a blank expression.
“If we continue like this, we’ll lose all the talented students and end up with a dorm full of incompetents. Do you think you can beat them with those members?”
Celia ran her fingers through her hair.
“I see your point, Walden. Dormitory 3 has decided to focus on defeating Leo. We should set our own goal.”
Chelsea crossed her arms.
“I don’t really want to make beating Leo my only goal.”
“Of course, Chelsea Lewellin. You’ve never aimed for the top during your freshman year.”
“Ugh.”
Chelsea pouted at Walden.
She couldn’t argue much.
For her to aim for the top in the Sorcery Department, she would have to overcome Abad, her blood relative.
Celia’s competitive spirit, too, felt more like rebellion against a family member.
To aim for the top in the class overall, there was Leo in the way.
“Celia Zerdinger. What kind of dorm do you want to create?”
“I want a dorm focused on knights.”
“No, no. I want a dorm centered around sorcerers.”
“Really? Then the direction of our dorm is set.”
“What?”
Celia ran her fingers through her hair.
“The three of us have one thing in common.”
Walden looked amused by Celia’s statement.
“What?”
Celia continued.
“I believe swordsmanship is superior to sorcery and summoning.”
She pointed to Chelsea.
“She thinks sorcery is superior to swordsmanship and summoning, while you, Walden, consider summoning to be the ultimate ability. Am I wrong?”
Walden was not a major but was taking knighthood and sorcery as minors.
Though he lacked the talent for Aura or mana manipulation, he used these abilities to enhance his summoning skills.
In other words, for Walden, martial arts and sorcery were tools to strengthen his summoning.
This meant he considered summoning to be superior to the other two abilities.
Walden smirked at Celia’s words.
“Really? Are you suggesting that we should choose the best department for the dorm?”
“Exactly. There must be students who share our opinions.”
Celia smiled challengingly.
“We can’t let that clumsy Abad or Leo outshine us.”
“Why are you calling my brother clumsy?”
Chelsea tried to lunge at Celia in anger, but Walden restrained her by gripping the back of her neck.
Chelsea’s feet lifted off the ground as she shouted at Walden, her face flushed.
“What the hell are you doing? Let go!”
“Save the fights for when the other students aren’t watching. For now, show some team spirit.”
“Ugh!”
Chelsea pouted but did not resist further.
Leo, observing the scene, smirked.
‘They figured out their direction faster than I expected.’
Leo’s eyes sparkled.
‘Looks like our second year will be entertaining too.’

“Already? I suppose they’re called the golden generation for a reason. They truly are exceptional.”
Leena, who had just received a report from the principal’s office, looked amused.
“I expected them to struggle more.”
“The current second-year students are more impressive than you might think.”
“Harrid, your words give me hope.”
Leena set aside her documents.
“However, I’m concerned. We’re short on new students this year. Aren’t there only about 300?”
The auditor from the board of directors showed discomfort.
The new principal of Lumene, lacking achievements or reputation, was sent by the board due to perceived inadequacies.
‘Are they going to dismiss me if I fail? I don’t think that’s what the chairman intended.’
Leena inwardly curled the corners of her mouth.
“You needn’t worry. I’ve already administered the additional exam.”
“Yes?”
While the other board auditors panicked, someone entered the principal’s office.
“Welcome, Albi. How was the exam?”
Albi had organized an additional exam for the borderline candidates from the previous entrance exam at Leena’s request.
Leena believed that extravagant show-off events during the additional exam were unnecessary and did not publicize them.
“About 100 more passed.”
“Are you still concerned?”
“Oh, yes.”
The board auditor responded hesitantly.
After he left, Albi spoke.
“Leena.”
“I’m the principal now, Professor Albi.”
“Principal Leena.”
“What is it?”
“Some of the new students you recommended seemed unusual.”
“Who noticed?”
“Did Professors Harrid and Sedgen know?”
“We’re all in agreement.”
“I recognize their excellence.” Albi narrowed his eyes. “But you three should know best that Shadow Cadets fundamentally cannot mix with ‘Hero Candidates.’”
“Offering Shadow Cadets a chance to become heroes…”
Leena rested her chin on her hand.
“That was the condition for my accepting the principal role.”
