Golden Mage - Chapter 12
Volume 1, Chapter 12
Engraving a single magic spell on an ordinary stone, let alone on a regular mana stone, was an incredibly challenging task. It demanded an immense level of concentration due to the meticulous work involved.
However, that was just fine.
Once you became adept at it, you could draw one on a regular mana stone in about five minutes.
The problem was the connection between the mana stone and the magic. They had to be organically linked to make it work.
Inspired by this, El used the principles of the Earth’s formula in that connection.
Various methods such as solving simultaneous equations and substitutions existed, and she solved the fatal formulas of this continent in one go.
Then, she used overlapping magic circles to draw the two spells. Not just ordinary overlapping circles, but magic circles that connected formulas to formulas. This was also easily resolved by using a method to connect formulas.
After that, El created a charger that could charge magic stones.
The initial mana possessed by a magic stone was comparable to that of a high-grade mana stone. However, it needed to be made as a consumable product, so as to create a continuous demand.
Thus, she made it so that it would revert to an ordinary stone after being charged ten times.
Despite that, the magic stones that could be fully charged in three days, as opposed to mana stones where one had to wait for nearly a few years for the mana to replenish, sold like hotcakes.
The charger cost 100 gold, and the price of a magic stone was 50 gold each, which was by no means a cheap price. Yet, since the time required to produce one was not very long, it was as if they were sitting and making money.
The distribution channel for selling magic stones was decided to be at the Devil’s Peak. They sold them for 45 gold there and attached a 5-gold markup for the second-hand market.
Even so, selling over a hundred magic stones a month resulted in a profit of over 500 gold. El hoped Sylphyr would enjoy her life a little more with this money.
Although she was usually focused on training, ever since El proposed the idea, Sylphyr was so engrossed in her training that she hardly had time to cross paths with El anymore.
Thanks to this, she became a 4th Class Master two years later, and another two years passed when she succeeded in becoming a 5th Class Expert.
Only then did Sylphyr start to live her life with a little more leisure, just as El had suggested.
El knew that there was something behind Sylphyr’s intense dedication to training, but she decided to wait until she grew a little more before asking and kept her curiosity to herself.
Thus, as they enjoyed their somewhat relaxed life, Sylphyr got into an accident.
She had gone to the Half-Orcs because she had some business at the Martial Tower and returned home with two girls of the same age as El. Their names were Serena and Kaina.
The girl named Serena was two years older than El and was said to have been handed over to the Slave Top by her parents to be taken as a saint of the sect.
Learning of the whole story by chance, Sylphyr was furious. After a while, she came to her senses after annihilating the Slave Top and found another girl at their main headquarters.
The girl’s name was Kaina, and she said she was the hidden daughter of a noble who was defeated in a territorial war and sold as a slave due to her stunningly beautiful appearance.
While she taught Kaina basic swordsmanship, El gradually gathered information on knights by reading knight-related books. She found that the value of the single-breath technique, which maximized the mana response to the knights, was great. But the value of the single-breath technique that increased the amount of mana in the body of a knight was also immense.
Because of that, El suggested to her to learn the single-breath technique first and then train in swordsmanship. If she didn’t have enough basic swordsmanship books, it would be hard to find something better than basic swordsmanship.
However, Kaina was a girl with far more talent than El thought. She created her own sword based on basic swordsmanship and eventually completed her own swordsmanship that allowed her to wield her own sword.
Thanks to Kaina, Sylphyr no longer had to worry about thieves. She was grateful.
Soon, Sylphyr’s mother, Fail, greeted El with a beautiful smile.
“Did you sleep well?”
El greeted her with a smile. Beautiful Fail still looked so radiant that she could pass for someone in her early twenties.
“I slept well, as usual. Isn’t the most important thing in training getting enough sleep?”
El could tell from Fail’s continuous smile that she had achieved something. Not only was her mana response good, but her previously worn-out look had completely disappeared, making her look more relaxed than ever.
El smiled broadly and spoke.
“It seems like something good happened. Have you achieved something?”
At El’s words, Fail chuckled.
“Hoho! Did I show it that much? Congrats, Elly! Mom achieved 5th Class yesterday.”
El’s eyes widened.
“Really? Wow, congratulations!”
“Congratulations, Mom.”
“Congratulations from me as well.”
Serena and Kaina also offered their congratulations.
With the well-wishes received, Fail smiled brightly.
“Thank you, everyone. Now, I’ve become a proper 5th Class Master.”
It was not without reason. Fail, at her age of twenty-eight, was exceptionally rare to achieve 5th Class Master before thirty.
At least among the mages considered geniuses in one nation, only thirty could achieve 5th Class Master before they turned thirty.
Just five years ago, she had only been a 4th Class Expert. It was undoubtedly an astonishing accomplishment for her. And this was all thanks to the single-breath technique and magic formulas handed down by El.
