Golden Mage - Chapter 31
Volume 2, Episode 1
Chapter 1: The Revealed Truth
A massive golden knight stood tall, reaching about 3 meters in height.
Viscount Ainhardt, with his eyes wide open in astonishment, spoke as he gazed upon the Golden Knight.
“This, this is… could it be… the Knight Golem!”
The Knight Golem.
The greatest creation of the magicians who ushered in the end of the era of magic.
Unlike ordinary golems that merely clunk around, the Knight Golem possessed human-like movements and was more than five times as powerful as its rider.
The blueprint for creating the Knight Golem was known to almost all influential forces. However, there was one reason they couldn’t produce it.
The scarcity of magic.
Despite countless copies of magic books being spread across the continent, the crucial magic known as “Vision Magic” had never been leaked.
To create the Knight Golem, one needed the overlapping of magic circles, a form of magic that was considered the most critical part of Vision Magic.
But such overlapping magic circles had been lost for hundreds of years, leading everyone to abandon the idea of restoring the Knight Golem.
If the Knight Golem were to appear now, all the magicians on the continent would be captivated by its presence.
The overlapping magic circles used in the Knight Golem’s construction were extremely useful in creating magical artifacts.
It was these overlapping magic circles that allowed them to upgrade magical artifacts one step beyond the existing ones.
“A magic circle…”
Viscount Ainhardt’s greedy eyes were fixed on the Golden Knight. If he could research it, his power would become significantly stronger.
At this moment, Viscount Ainhardt was thinking only of his family’s interests.
A faint golden glow enveloped the entire body of the Golden Knight.
But it wasn’t just for show.
The faint golden glow surrounding the Golden Knight was, in fact, the effect of hundreds of manifested shield magics inscribed on it.
Just as layering multiple thin clothes can withstand the cold, the aggregated shields around the Golden Knight, while low-class magic, could easily repel attacks up to 5th-class magic through their overlapping effects.
The mana stones near the Golden Knight’s core began to move. Hundreds of mana stones combined to form an amount of mana that far surpassed that of a Swordmaster’s aura.
Qua-qua-qua-qua!
Intense mana surged out, seemingly burning. It felt like the aura emitted by a swordsman beyond the level of a Swordmaster.
“Ugh!”
Caught in the Golden Knight’s power, Gleton, a 7th-class expert, let out a weak groan.
That meant the power released by the Golden Knight was at least on par with that of a Swordmaster.
“Amazing. Truly astonishing!”
Gleton didn’t show any reaction, but Viscount Ainhardt was secretly amazed as well.
The power displayed by the Knight Golem just now was an incredible ability surpassing even that of a minimum-level Swordmaster.
Viscount Ainhardt shifted his gaze to Elge.
Elge was also looking at Viscount Ainhardt, and their eyes met.
At that moment, a smirk-like smile formed at the corner of Viscount Ainhardt’s mouth.
Elge, standing before a 7th-class master, seemed pitiful to him.
“Pitiful… No, wait! Then, who cast the 7th-class magic just now?”
Viscount Ainhardt’s expression changed strangely.
A 7th-class magic had exploded in his mansion earlier. However, Elge, who stood before him now, was said to have just become a 5th-class expert.
Who had cast the 7th-class magic, then?
“Could it be…!”
Astonishment tinged Viscount Ainhardt’s voice, his eyes trembling.
Could it be that he had been deceived? Was he the one who had been fooled into thinking that Elge was a 7th-class master?
Viscount Ainhardt looked at Elge with trembling eyes.
Then, Elge’s appearance, still containing a hint of a smirk, gave Viscount Ainhardt the confirmation he needed.
Elge had deceived him. He had deceived a 7th-class master!
Though he seemed to be smirking, Elge’s eyes were incredibly cold. They were so icy that it seemed they could freeze everything in their gaze.
Viscount Ainhardt’s anger had erupted when he cast the 7th-class magic, but at this moment, Elge was incredibly calm.
He was so composed that he seemed beyond furious.
Furious that he had cast the 7th-class magic without thinking, Elge now maintained an icy composure.
He had tried to use himself and Cilfir, his grandfather and uncle—no, he couldn’t call them that. They weren’t even worth mentioning. Elge heard Cilfir’s voice at that moment.
“Elly! What’s going on?”
Elge’s expression, previously so chilling, softened instantly.
“Mother…”
It was a sudden and drastic change.
Elge’s previously impenetrable expression softened with Cilfir’s appearance.
“Elly is… your son, father! Yet you command them to attack him!”
But Viscount Ainhardt ignored her. Instead, he urged the knights to action.
They had to stop Elge. If they made a mistake, their family would be ruined, and their descendants might end up living as slaves.
“Seize him! Although he may look like an ordinary high-class magician, you should take extra precautions since he might be a high-class mage!”
They didn’t need to mention him being a high-class mage, as the explosion’s magnitude had already been enormous, so the knights were extremely vigilant.
Elge looked at the approaching knights and then turned his gaze to the Golden Knight.
“Thana! Subdue them all, but don’t kill them.”
He didn’t want people to die, especially before Cilfir.
“Yes, Master. Understood.”
With that, the Golden Knight, Thana, began to move.
