The Reincarnated Assassin is a Genius Swordsman - Chapter 869
Chapter 869
“Master still hasn’t come out?”
The first thing Raon heard after he fainted and woke up was that Limer’s soul was still in the True Soul Sword.
“Yes. Shi Yan tried to pull it out, but it didn’t come out until the end.”
Erian shook his head in disbelief.
“In frustration, he threw it away at the end.”
He lowered his voice as he told Shi Yan that he had thrown the True Soul Sword on the floor.
“Sin, I’m sorry, I was so frustrated….”
Shi Yan covered her face with a thick quilt and her eyes trembled.
“Ah, I guess he likes that sword….”
She let out a small sigh, feeling like she wouldn’t be able to take it out unless he wanted to.
“Hah, he’s so different from when he was here, I don’t even know what he’s trying to do.”
Sterin clicked his tongue as he fingered the bandages wrapped around his body. He seemed frustrated that his hand-raised grandson didn’t understand.
“Haha….”
Raon smirked at the True Soul Sword on the table.
“You’ve got to be thinking.
Remer was not the lightweight he appeared to be. The fact that he was so intent on clinging to the sword, it was clear he had other ideas.
“The World Water has drained some of the negative energy from the blade, so I think it’s best to leave it alone for now.”
Raon shook his head dismissively.
“I’m going to stay out of it, too. I have too many sore spots to think about a grandson who hasn’t shown his face in years.”
Sterin snorted as he looked at the darkblade.
“Ra, is he all right?”
Shi Yan lifted the quilt slightly, his eyes filled with concern.
“There are still some internal wounds, but nothing that will leave any lingering effects.”
Raon slowly rolled his shoulders and smiled.
It was no exaggeration to say that his resilience was among the strongest among humans, thanks to a number of traits.
It was a wound that would heal itself in a few more days.
“Da, thank God….”
Shi Yan breathed a sigh of relief, saying that he had been worried.
“Thanks to you, Shi Yan.”
Raon bowed her head to Shi Yan. She had heard that the water spirit had helped her recover, and she wanted to say thank you.
“And for all your hard work.”
“What? I, I didn’t do anything….”
“You encouraged the elves to defend the World Tree when I was fighting the dragons. You’ve changed so much, Shiyan, and I think Master would have liked it if he could see it.”
Shi Yan threw off the blanket that hid him and stepped forward to defend the World Tree and help the elves who had given up their lives to stand up.
Even in the midst of battle, Shi Yan’s transformation from a hermit in the corner of the room stirred a thrill.
“I saw it, too. It was wonderful.”
Sterin patted Shi Yan’s shoulder in pride.
“Aww….”
Shi Yan stumbled to the floor, not expecting the sudden praise.
“Ah, no, it’s nothing, really, it’s nothing. Hehehe….”
An eerie chuckle comes from the quilt wrapped around her head. She seemed to have changed, but then again, she didn’t seem to have changed.
“Oh, and there’s something else I need to tell you.”
Raon looked at the three of them and let out a small sigh.
“It’s about Master….”
He told them about how Remer hadn’t just become a slacker since he came to Siegthard, but had helped many people and continued to support the orphanage.
“Well, it’s good to know that he….”
Sterin smiled faintly at the darkblade, pleased to know her grandson’s true intentions.
“He thought of himself as an elf when he was in Seifia, but I think he was just as backwoods as a human, and he still is.”
Erian gave a small laugh, as if that was typical of Limerick.
“Ah!”
Shi Yan seemed to be struck with inspiration and pulled out a book from under the covers and began to scribble.
“Is this about Master?
I lowered my eyes, expecting to see something about Limerick, but all I could see were the words ‘Jonjal Raon’, so I looked away.
“Hmmm, I guess you need to rest now.”
Sterin grabbed Shi Yan by the waist and nodded slightly as he frantically scribbled away, embarrassed by the words Jonjal Raon.
“You’ve worked hard. Rest.”
Erian bowed his head as well, and the two of them left the inn.
“Hah….”
As soon as Raon was alone, he flopped back down on the bed and stretched out his arms.
“I survived.
He laughed lightly, actually feeling a bit relieved to have survived.
-This time, I was in real danger.
Rath’s eyes peeked over the bracelet.
-If that lizard had fought properly, it would have been you who would have been buried.
‘Yes….’
Raon nodded.
“I know.
Rath had been right, Matirus’s power was far above his own.
If he hadn’t caught him off guard, he would have been the one to die.
-Why didn’t you take the King’s power?
Rath narrowed his eyes, still questioning.
-How arrogant of him to claim transcendence….
‘Because I didn’t want to see you coughing anymore.
Raon smiled weakly at Rath.
-What, what?
‘You’re finally recovered enough that your cough has subsided, and I didn’t want to make you cough again.
Rath had helped him and the clown, even at the cost of his own soul.
He didn’t want to ask the one he considered a friend to make a sacrifice, so he wanted to handle this one in his own power.
-Urr….
Rath’s eyes widened as if he’d just heard an answer that wasn’t quite what he’d expected.
-Ah, for a child to worry about the Bone King, he’s still a long way off!
Despite his outburst, his eyes were wide, and his cheeks were flushed scarlet. He seemed to be in a very good mood.
-‘Well, it’s not a bad idea, I suppose. A man’s got to keep what’s his own, Cancer, that’s for sure!
“Yeah.
Raon smirked at Rath’s embarrassment.
-‘Well, I suppose it’s about time the Bone King gave you a bit of recognition, after all.
‘Speaking of recognition, the sun will rise in the west.
Raon patted Rath on the head, his tail flicking.
“Shall I get started, then?
-What do you mean, begin, ah, preparing a whole roast dragon, I’m nearly choking on my own waiting!
Rath cleared his throat in anticipation.
“No, not that.
Raon shook his head vigorously and called up the messages he’d left unread until now.
So many messages came up at once that his entire vision was obscured by a blue window.
-Shut up!
Rath’s mouth dropped open from a smile, as if he hadn’t realised there were so many messages in there.
-What the hell! Why are there so many!
‘You deserve it.’
He hadn’t cared until now, but he had reached Transcendence and captured a Transcendent and a God Dragon in quick succession.
It wasn’t strange if there was a reward that would block his entire vision.
‘Well, then….’
First, he checked the rewards he’d received for reaching Transcendence.
[You have reached the Transcendence!]
[ has reached 9 stars].
[ has reached 9 stars].
[ has reached rank 9].
[All stats increased by 70 points].
[Talent increased].
[Talent rating increased to Sense].
[Attribute rating increased].
[Attribute rating increased].
[Talent rating increased].
[Talent rating increased].
[Talent increases rating].
With so many lines, it’s almost painful to look at the rewards for transcendence.
“Wait, is that 70 points?
I’ve seen 50-point rewards before, but never 70 at once.
I felt a pleasant tingling sensation as my body twitched at the ridiculous increase in stats.
“Seven attributes, too.
Not just the ones related to Manga Ball and Glacia, but also the ones I used in the dungeon.
I felt a dizzying wave of pleasure.
-Huh…?
Rath’s mouth dropped open as he read the message.
-Bo, is King Bone’s eyes wrong, is he really 70?
He rubbed his eyes vigorously, as if he thought he’d seen it wrong.
-He rubbed his eyes hard, as if he thought he was mistaken.
‘You shouldn’t be freaking out already.
Pushing past Rath, I checked my rewards for killing Beorn and Vardiel.
[Slain two transcendents].
[You have slain a Heavenly in a thousand years].
[You have accomplished the impossible feat].
[All stats increase by 50 points].
[You will have the new talent ].
[The new title is created].
Your stats have been increased by 50 points, possibly because you slashed two Transcendents at the same time.
The combined total was 120, a figure that staggered the recipient.
“A thousand years old.
Putting his stats aside, he checked out his new talent, Thousand Kills.
Reduces the Auror’s resistance to you, allowing you to inflict more damage.
“Is this good?
I read the description and realised that this ability reduces the Auror resistance of Celestials.
I’m going to have a lot of encounters with celestials, so this will be very helpful in future battles.
‘And….’
Finally, I checked the title.
‘Transcendent;
A noble title given to beings who were born human and ascended to the heavens.
Ability: Enhances the achievements of a fully mastered martial art.
Raon’s eyes widened as he saw the power of the Transcendent title.
“Is this real?
A title that enhanced the achievements of a perfectly mastered martial art was a reward that was far more important than any stat or attribute to his mastery of the Ten Thousand Swords.
He could hardly believe his eyes.
-Don’t, don’t, don’t….
Rath drooled like he’d just eaten a whole roasted dragon.
His eyes looked like they might roll back in his head if he freaked out any more.
“Joe, hang in there, this is the last time.
Raon patted Rath on the back, confirming his reward.
[You have accomplished the impossible feat].
[All stats increase by 40 points].
[You have gained the new Talent ].
[Talent is increased in rank].
[Talent is increased in rank].
[Increases the rank of Talent ]
[Talent ranks up].
The rewards for slaying the dragon were, of course, not small. All of my stats have been increased by 40 points, and a new talent has been created.
“Empowerment?
The name of the talent gave me an idea of what to expect.
“Empowerment.
The ability to manifest powers in a human body that only a demon can fully wield.
It was exactly what I expected.
It was a talent that bridged the vast gap between Rath’s rage and his own.
It seemed to be the reward for harmonising the powers of the demons when he used the barrier.
-Ahhhhhhhhh!
Rath’s tearing scream rang out after a long time.
-Isn’t it too much today, the Bone King’s entire spine is missing!
Rath gagged, feeling dizzy with the loss of so much.
-For a total of 160 points, two traits, one title, and eleven enhancements! How is that possible?
Did you memorise all that?
-Of course I memorised it!
‘I didn’t get it all at once, it was three rewards in a row….’
-Shut up!
Rath slapped Raon on the head.
-You said you wouldn’t open your hand to the Bourne King, and now you’re not even bothering!
‘My, I didn’t do it, the system gave it to me….’
Raon touched the back of his head and shook his head.
-Then talk to him to make him stop!
Rath lowered his eyebrows as if he could hear him.
‘Mmm, is that necessary…?
Raon tilted her head. He didn’t see why not.
-You bastard!
Rath snapped.
-I take back what I said! The Bone King will call you a child for life….
“Cute!”
A small hamster that had slipped through a crack in the treehouse while he was complaining chuckled.
“Why are you laughing to yourself?”
-Giggle!
Lars jumped back, startled by Merlin’s sudden appearance.
His eyes rolled back in shock.
“What, Merlin?”
Raon breathed harshly as he looked at the hamster-turned-Merlin.
“I was watching to see when you woke up, and I thought it was cute how you nodded and smiled to yourself, so I kept watching.”
Merlin laughed at how cute it was.
“No, you have a body here, why did you come as a hamster?”
“Because I’m ashamed of my body.”
She clasped her hands together and swayed her shoulders from side to side.
“Boo, shy?”
Raon’s eyes widened in confusion.
“You? How? Why?
* * *
Luckily, Rath’s mood lifted the next day.
-Kiya, you’re sweet, good!
Sterin had thrown a small banquet to celebrate Seifia’s survival of the crisis, and Rath was able to enjoy the sweet fruit dishes to his heart’s content.
“I wonder if the fruit is different from ours.
Raon mused as he bit into a juicy apple pie.
The way the pie was made was better than Siegfried’s, but the flavour of the fruit was something he would never be able to match.
-The world tree and the elves’ energy ripen the fruit, making it sweeter and more delicious.
Lars shook his head, a natural distinction.
-We’ve worked up an appetite, now let’s get to the main course, which will be ready soon!
He tugged at his shoulder, urging him to get to the meat.
‘You’re in a hurry, aren’t you?
Raon laughed lightly and headed for the outskirts of Seifia.
In a large stone kiln, a rock-thick piece of meat was cooking.
“Great, great lord. Are we really allowed to eat this?”
Dorian, who had built the kiln with Merlin, looked at the dragon’s meat and his jaw quivered.
“I’m not allowed to eat it? I’ll eat the gold and red, but the black is a bit….”
Crane shook his head, not wanting to be poisoned.
“No, there’s plenty to eat, why would you….”
Buren frowned in confusion.
“They’re big cubs, that’s why they talk so much! When you hunt a beast, you eat the meat first!”
Marta slapped Crane and Dorian on the back, telling them not to complain.
“Yep. I’m looking forward to it.”
Lunan waved her fork and knife around, her cheeks pink from the fruit wine.
-The ice-cream girl and the beef girl of the Bone King!
Rath nodded in satisfaction at her favourite position.
-Mmm, my mouth is watering, it’s the first time even the Bone King has ever eaten three types of dragon roast at once!
His nostrils flared at the growing aroma.
“I see you’re finally eating.”
Sterin smirked as he came up behind him.
“Oh, I’m sorry. I thought elves were sensitive to that sort of thing….”
“No, we’re not, we don’t mind it, it’s part of nature.”
He shook his head as if it didn’t matter.
“It’s just the idea of eating a dragon that’s curious.”
Sterin laughed, saying she hadn’t thought of that.
“Ah….”
“It’s a good thing I didn’t, because the loot was too much to handle, three dragon hearts, and countless teeth and bones of the most expensive kind.”
He adds that it will take him three months to sort through the rewards of his dragon slaying.
“I’m going to start by making swords and armour out of the teeth and bones, but that’s going to take quite a bit of time.”
“Then perhaps I can introduce you to a good craftsman?”
Sterin raised his hand lightly in suggestion.
“An introduction?”
“Aye. A dwarf by the name of Borgoth. He’s making a name for himself as a craftsman.”
“I know.”
Raon nodded immediately.
“He’s the one who made my secret weapon.”
The master of the Grey Hammers Guild, Borgoth, had already familiarised himself with Dorian’s home.
“Good, then, I’ll put you in touch with him.”
“But I heard that elves and dwarves don’t get along….”
“That’s to be expected.”
Sterin snapped her fingers, indicating that unlike the other dwarves, she was friendly with him.
“Thank you.”
Raon bowed to Sterin.
“I should be the one to thank you, for it is because of you that Seifia survives.”
Sterin narrowed his eyes, indicating that a greeting was unnecessary.
“…Matirus was just a quiet neighbour who lived nearby, and I didn’t see this coming.”
He looked at the well-cooked meat and let out a short sigh.
“Did Matirus live around here?”
“Yes. There’s a rare less than two days’ journey away.”
Sterin pointed north, as if the elves couldn’t know better.
“Alas, I see.”
Raon paused for a long moment.
-Hmm?
Rath looked at Raon and frowned.
-You look like you’re filled with lust.
He shrugged, saying it was the look he got when he was sucking his stats.
“I guess….’
Raon looked north and unwound his long fingers.
“That’s going to be a lot of loot.”
